A lovely restaurant where a friendly welcome and service are the norm. The starters were huge and I was worried we'd ordered too much. The main course was spicy and authentic. I'm sure the competition is worried hence the occasional negative review. Try it for yourself, I dont think you'll be disappointed.

“Great Food and Friendly Staff”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

Having exhausted our options for a good local curry takeaway, we decided to look further afield. Alams Lounge is just over 3 miles from where we live and is totally worth the drive. The food is really excellent - as spicy as you like but tasty and not stingy with the meat in their dishes. The ingredients are obviously good quality and the spice combinations result in a superior dish. The staff are really friendly and accommodating and we can't wait to have a proper sit down meal here - we just had a baby so it's been takeaways lately!

“Excellent”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

We recently visited and all of our party said it was the best indian meal we had ever had. The food was so fresh and tasty and the prices are very good. The Bhajis were slightly more spicy than we have had before but the kids ate them so were not that spicy. But the thing that stood out was how fresh and well cooked all the food was. The service was very good and we were given bottles of tap water without being asked. The decor etc is modern and inviting and it will definately be the only indian we will go to from now on.

“Disapointing”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

After reading some of the great comments we decided to try the Alams Lounge.
We were so disapointed with the food and would not eat her again.
Attentive staff and nice surrondings but the food overall was very poor.

Indians are hard to review as each restuarant has their own particular style of cooking. This was just not to our taste.
I would much rather eat at the Balti Place in Darton or the Thaal in Darfield.

“A Fine Evening”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

My husband and I visited Alams Lounge to celebrate my birthday. We found the staff to be very accommodating and the decor stunning. You take your own drinks/wine/beer as they are not a licenced restaurant, limited to two bottles of wine per couple. We ordered our starters which came quickly and were very nice, we were asked if we wanted a "breather" between starters and mains, which we were appreciative of. Although I cannot say this is the best indian meal we have ever had it is by no manner of means the worst and we would happily visit again.
