“One night stay”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

Stayed over for one night, The room was very comfortable and allowed us plenty of room to spread!
We ate in the Taybarn which is attached to the Premier Inn and this was very reasonable with a huge choice and reasonably priced

Arrived by train, not too far to walk. Receptionists extremely helpful. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, warm and comfortable. Lovely view of town from window. Bed very comfy and the choice of pillows an excellent idea. Nice to have more than one chair in a room. Great coffee. Had lunch downstairs and it was really nice to sit in front of the fire, cosy and warm. Breakfast was an all you can eat which my husband saw as a challenge! On our third night we stayed in for dinner and were satisfied with our choices and the price paid. Would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a central location but wanting comfort and a great deal.

Just returned from a 2 night stay. We booked via their website which was easy, received a phone call a few days before we were due to arrive and then we also got a text asking if we would like directions to the hotel, excellent service and very helpful due to the location of the car park. Rooms were the usual hight standard you get in Premier Inns. We had a meal in the restaurant which was most enjoyable and reasonably priced. We had a couple of drinks in the bar at night which was really busy in the early part of the night. A tip for when ordering a drink, the price of a straight measure of spirits is the same whether you have a mixer in it or not. This hotel is very close to the main shopping centre and nightlife. Highly recommended

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor overlooking the main road, no noise in the room

Excellent location and good parking, the staff are proffesional but friendly. The Glass House restaurant serves excellent food at a reasonable price and in good time. The rooms are spotless, I have paid a lot more money to stay in hotels that are nowhere near as good as this.

Booked via their website and received a phone call a couple of days before we were due just to check everything was ok. Phoned reception as we arrived to get better directions to their car park (which is a little bit difficult to find) and was very helpfully directed to it. There is a surface car park to the rear of the hotel - this is where your satnav will direct you - which is free of charge from 6pm to 11am; or the underground car park which is £3.50 for 24 hrs. From the underground car park there is a lift which brings you up on the mezzanine area across from reception and from there it's a short walk of 20 yards or so to reception. The hotel is built on the side of a hill and has different levels.
Steph at reception was friendly and helpful and speeded us through check-in very proficiently. The room was up to the usual Premier Inn standards: clean, airy, superbly comfortable bed and everything - including the decor - in excellent condition.
We went down to the Glass House bar restaurant and it was pleasant, quite busy and almost Tardis like for its deceptively large size. offering picture window views on one side over the concourse and on the other over the town from 4 or 5 stories up. We didn't eat dinner there so I cannot comment, but there were plenty of others using it, many of whom were coming in from outside and were presumably non-residents.
We stopped by reception on our way out and requested a coffee mug, some de-caff and extra milk, all of which were waiting for us upon our return at 1am.
After a very good night's sleep we elected for the breakfast, my wife the continental, and I the full English. The range of coffees, teas, cereals, fruit, croissants, breads, rolls, crumpets, milks (full fat, semi skimmed, soya etc) was fantastic. The full English was delivered to the table very quickly by another friendly staff member and if I had anything to grumble about then that was all I could find. The cooked breakfast was two of everything but some of it was a bit lukewarm.
The reception staff at check out were great, friendly and laughing, and other guests checking out were vociferously singing their praises.
Premier Inn rarely disappoints and this branch could easily be their 'Poster Boy'!

Room Tip: Higher up equals less traffic noise in the morning.

I stayed here in early October after watching a football match at Oakwell, and I can't speak highly enough of this hotel. The staff at reception and in the bar are extremely friendly, and the whole hotel is clean and tidy. The room is even better, I stayed with a friend who had the double bed and I had the pull out bed (which was already made when we arrived) and the pull out bed was very comfy. The room was very clean and tired as well as the bathroom. For the £60 it cost it is extremely good value for money !! Although it is quite difficult to find the parking underneath the hotel (due to poor signposting) that is the only downpoint. The hotel is just about in the centre of Barnsley, and is close to the main high street too. Great hotel.

I stayed at the hotel a couple of weeks ago & the staff were really helpful. I had the full breakfast in the morning & Dan was very professional & even loaned me his I phone charger. The girls on reception managed to prepare an early room for me as I needed to leave my bags in there. The rooms are spotless & all the staff couldn't be more helpful. I am going to stay again this weekend for 2 nights as I am attending a course in the town.
