For work I had a one night stay in the hotel and after the 4 hour drive there I must say I was very impressed. The staff on the desk were very helpful and chatty, the room was large clean and had everything you could want, even different firmness of pillows to use. There was a pub restaurant on site which delivered a much needed pint also.

Breakfast was in the same pub/restaurant I personally though it was a tad on the pricey side for breakfast but that was the only small issue I could find for an over all very pleasant stay.

Spent one night in this hotel whilst visiting for a friend's 70th birthday. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and greeted us with smiles all round. The hotel I believe is fairly new and it looked it. Rooms were very clean with plenty of space. We did not have an evening meal as we were attending a party, but we did have breakfast which was excellent. I would recommend this hotel unreservedly to anyone who is travelling in this area.

We returned to Premier Inn again after trying Ardsley House Hotel on our last visit to Barnsley. My review of Ardsley House will explain why if you read it.
This Premier Inn is central, has an attached car park but there is a surface council car park available opposite with free overnight parking where you can prepay for up to 4 morning hours which will reduce the cost.
The rooms are large and clean, the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The quality on offer makes you wonder why allegedly 4 and 5 star hotels fall short of what's provided here.
The breakfast is plentiful and mid range price for hotels but the staff will direct you to the nearest Weatherspoon outlet 10 minutes walk into town if you want to save money and have a morning stroll.
The attached restaurant / pub is excellent, friendly and a good venue for a comfortable quiet drink with views across the valley and town. It has a good choice of food (including snacks) and drinks at reasonable cost. Though some of the Barnsley town pubs can be rowdy, especially on a weekend, the pub crawl can be fun and there are some excellent pubs and bars. If you like beer, don't miss the old No 7 on Market Hill. Quiet restaurants though are not plentiful and if you don't want to eat in the hotel and aren't happy with take away chips, you may need to drive just out of town where there are some good restaurants and pubs.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms have a view but have minimal road noise, even numbered rooms face into the courty...

..and I've stayed in loads. Seriously I've stayed in Jurys, Hiltons, Holiday Inns, other Premier Inns and many Central London rip offs, but this is outstanding. The front of house is meant to be automated but there's always some one there to help. The bar restaurant is always full of local people - a great sign in my opinion.
The breakfast is truly outstanding. No bain marie keep-warn 'stir your beans' presentation but a personal service; freshly cooked and a massive range of options. I had perfect poached eggs on bacon and toast... to start. You can order time and again. I did. As a meeting location a breakfast get together is ideal. All the tea and coffee you can drink; all the food you could wish for.
Rooms are big, clean and fresh. Bed was really comfortable. TV set-up properly for all freeview channels. The morning staff are friendly and communicative. Unbeatable VFM.

Room Tip: Higher floors perhaps if you are noise sensitive as it's a very popular place

Second stay at this Premier. After my first visit I had told my wife how good this hotel is and so we decided to use it as a base for meeting up with some relatives. Again, it did not disappoint. Room was spotless and beds were comfortable. We enjoyed an excellent night's sleep.
Also took advantage of booking the Premier Meal Deal which is very good value for money. A three-course meal and all you can eat breakfast for £22 - can't go wrong!
My wife is the greatest critic in the world if something isn't right, but she could not fault this hotel. We have recently stayed in a so-called 4* hotel in London that wasn't a patch on this one.
Cannot finish this review without a mention for the staff, who were all very pleasant and helpful at any time of the day.
Please keep it up Premier because we'll be back!

Thanks to Steph at the front desk for calling us a cab and getting us checked in so quick as we were late for a church wedding. Steph was very helpful and pleasant with all info we needed. The rooms were exceptional with extras like a blow dryer and so clean. I have stayed in some five diamond hotel that could use some tips. the breakfast was the best I've had at an excellent price. Thanks to Ruth at reception and a young man on night shift that was kind enough to get water and decafe coffee for us. thanks to Amy and Scott the chef and Simon too. I really feel the staff went the extra mile that made us enjoy our travel that much more. I hightly recommend the Premier Inn and I will be looking for them everywhere I go, starting with Gloucester Sept. 15th/2012. Susan and Peter

Room Tip: 305 was an excellent room with a view as well.
