“Interesting.”

I didn't realise this was here and what it was really. Interesting place and passed an afternoon. Loads for children to do. Interesting and fun.

“Magnificent living restoration”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

The staircase house takes you back through the centuries and is not a stuffy museum. The atmosphere envelops you and the recorded guide gives a considerable amount of detail which can be presented at your own pace.

“Visit to Staircase house in Stockport”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

I liked it all, the displays are very well thought out and genuine. The tour takes you right through the house which used to be a yeoman's house and it is so called after the original staircase dating back a few centuries ago. It had quite a turbulent history and I would advise any tourist and Stopfordians to visit it.

“Staircase house a must visit attraction”
Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

I regularly visit places of historical interest but have never felt quite the same after a visit as I did after visiting the staircase house!
I don't know if it is was the contrast from the bustle of modern day life going on right outside the attraction in the busy market place or the wonderful way in which the history of the building and its occupants has been displayed but the staircase house is certainly my favourite historical attraction
Another point worth mentioning is the warm informative staff that go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful visit....well done to all involved

“Art and history”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

A well-laid out and very informative museum of Stockport and local life as well as an interesting art exhibition "Saints and Sinners" which runs to Oct/Nov 2014. Fully wheelchair accessible with very friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff
