The Liz is a great place especially in the summer with a large beer garden. Had many good nights here.

We recently visited following a recommendation, luckily it was a beautiful September sunny day and we sat in the garden which is lovely. Very busy as it was sunny but the clientele were all friendly and the lunch was very nice too. Good menu and also very pleasant inside. We will return as it’s a very nice pub.

We visited here on Saturday 7th September about 3pm . The pub wasn’t as busy as it usually is but there was a few people in . The bar service was extremely slow compared to on numerous previous visits . Hardly any bar staff behind the bar but a-lot walking around on the outer side. It was full of children some unattended by parents that kept climbing up the bar and was not once told to get down by a member of staff !! Surly this is a health and safety issue? Also a couple was in and decided to sit 4 of their children on the bar . Come on Elizabethan for a pub that is so particular about not serving anyone under the age of 21 it has turned itself into a creche!! Not sure if a nice Saturday afternoon in the elizabethan is going to be on the cards for a very long time unless things change . Such a shame as its always been a favourite place of mine to go but just seemed very unorganised

sorry to hear of your visit , we are a family friendly pub and sometimes we get lots of families in . it was a good day with plenty outside in the sun shine which left us a little under staffed . we hope this wont happen again and our level of service will return to what you are used too

Beautiful sunny and hot day, my other half went to order me an Aperol Spritz, popular drink of the season I would say, but no they didn’t ’t have any. So we tried for Sangria and no they don’t have that either, looked like a manager was listening when I tried to push a little further and ask if they could make up a sangria, he came over and said we can but it will be a very expensive drink we will charge you for a glass of wine, bottle of orange juice and glass of lemonade.
Really J w Lees call yourself a decent brewery you shouldn’t be allowed to take over pubs and ruin them

Came in a group of 13 today at lunchtime. We’d booked a table and pre-ordered food. On arrival the table wasn’t ready, they asked if we could share 3 small tables, we asked for 1 big table. They moved the tables together but looked a bit grumpy about it. The food arrived but 1 meal took 40 minutes to arrive, the member of staff said it was ordered wrong and that meal wasn’t on the menu, then he said it had gone to the wrong table. No apology but did offer to knock it off the bill.
Nobody too impressed with their food, just ok. Some meals very big, salad mainly lettuce, squid portion v small. Good that they had gluten free bread, but it didn’t taste nice, the chef could do with tasting the products!
Shame this lets the pub down, it’s a lovely pub but food wasn’t as good as a year ago. And lots of competition in the area.
Also we only ordered from the main menu, as this was the only one available online. But sat at the table there was a lunch menu which was better value
