We've walked past this restaurant countless times on the way to our favourite Indian, usually commenting on the misspelt 'Spacial meal of the day' (now corrected sadly) ' I bet it's out of this world'. We fancied a change from the usual meal last night, so instead of passing by, we turned left through the front door, and we're instantly greeted by the friendly proprietor and quickly seated.
A glass of Efes each, we scrutinised the menu carefully - so many dishes I've never heard of - and settled for a safe choice of a mixed grill of Turkish lamb prepared in a startling variety of ways, my wife choosing Chicken in a mild spicy sauce with basmati rice and Greek(Turkish?) Salad.
When our meals arrived, our laughter at the misspelling proved somewhat prophetic.
Both meals were absolutely fantastic, well cooked, well presented, and unexpectedly generous portions. The meat was a fantastic selection of lamb in all it's Turkish varieties, lamb chop, kebab, steak, too many to remember, all cooked perfectly. Hidden under the meat and fresh salad was a perfectly formed dome of Basmati rice, very lightly oiled and very fragrant.
We didn't bother with sweets, as by now it was nearly 11.30. A quick chat with the owner before we left ( some in my 'fluid' German - I only speak very limited German when I've had one or two drinks) and then a quick cab home, organised by the restaurant.
A highly recommended restaurant, with great food.
