“A Little Gem”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

We've walked past this restaurant countless times on the way to our favourite Indian, usually commenting on the misspelt 'Spacial meal of the day' (now corrected sadly) ' I bet it's out of this world'. We fancied a change from the usual meal last night, so instead of passing by, we turned left through the front door, and we're instantly greeted by the friendly proprietor and quickly seated.
A glass of Efes each, we scrutinised the menu carefully - so many dishes I've never heard of - and settled for a safe choice of a mixed grill of Turkish lamb prepared in a startling variety of ways, my wife choosing Chicken in a mild spicy sauce with basmati rice and Greek(Turkish?) Salad.
When our meals arrived, our laughter at the misspelling proved somewhat prophetic.
Both meals were absolutely fantastic, well cooked, well presented, and unexpectedly generous portions. The meat was a fantastic selection of lamb in all it's Turkish varieties, lamb chop, kebab, steak, too many to remember, all cooked perfectly. Hidden under the meat and fresh salad was a perfectly formed dome of Basmati rice, very lightly oiled and very fragrant.
We didn't bother with sweets, as by now it was nearly 11.30. A quick chat with the owner before we left ( some in my 'fluid' German - I only speak very limited German when I've had one or two drinks) and then a quick cab home, organised by the restaurant.
A highly recommended restaurant, with great food.

They need to avoid being stereotypical .
The chef as a great ' touch' and should champion more Turkish classics .

“Marmaras restraurant”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Again a fabulous evening. Food freshly prepared brought with right amount of space between starters and main. Waitress smiley friendly without interrupting our conversation. The couple we took with us also enjoyed the whole evening and we have now booked to go for New Year's Eve. Can't praise enough and as we all very fussy this is praise indeed. Free coffee and baileys was a lovely touch.

“Tasty Fish and Great Service!”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Went with dad for evening meal. Very friendly waitress greeted us and sat us down. She explained all the different foods and specials and we both had the fish. Although the fish was tasty and there was nothing to fault with the quality and freshness of the food the waitress forgot to tell me they didn't have any calamari which was a disappointment when my meal arrived.

“Appalling. Avoid at all costs.”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

We've ordered twice from these people, the first time they were 45 minutes late. They offered a free bottle of coke (but no apology) to compensate for this but missed parts of our order. The second time they didn't bother bringing the coke and missed part of the order. We called up and the manager got quite aggressive on the phone (thinking that we couldn't hear hear). My husband pointed out that he could hear what she was saying and she continued to insinuate that we were lying and blamed us for the ruined order. Aside from the shocking attitude, the food is average, extortionate and comes in small portions. Avoid this place if you value satisfaction, value, quality and fundamental customer service.
