“Variable food quality; lovely staff”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

This is a pleasant pub with lovely staff, but the food is very variable in quality. Battered haddock was good, but came with undercooked (from frozen) chips. The turkey roast dinner from the set price menu was more like the standard of a supermarket ready meal than a restaurant - undercooked roast potatoes, parsnip fingers uncuttable because so undercooked, turkey machine sliced and school dinners gravy. Please rethink your approach to your food March Hare... It doesn't do justice to what could be a great pub.

The food is very good value. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is a local pub nicely furnished. The seating area outside could so with improving.

“Awful meal and appalling service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

Yes, it is run by a chain. Yes, it is a standard menu. Yes, there is little to the preparation required.

But there is no excuse for truly rotten food. I use the word rotten advisedly. The french beans were black in parts. The broad beans tasted faintly of mildew. There were no new potatoes for the dish. When the substituted chips arrived they were warm. Whilst the salmon was adequately cooked, it was not truly 'seared'. The 'lemon' creme fraiche dressing was plain with a green leaf of some sort mixed up in it.

The frangipane was warm and sticky, though truly devoid of flavour.

All in all, perhaps the worst meal I have had in front of me for a very long time.

The service was lack-lustre, slow, sullen and uninterested in the customers.

Avoid at all costs.

“March Hare”

Lovely meal, value for money, excellent service, and good menu. Catered well for children, with outdoor tables, and paper and crayons to keep them amused. Great family dining experience.
