“Very authentic”
Reviewed September 8, 2012 via mobile

For a change, other than typical pub fare, on our last nIght before returning to Canada, we selected this restaurant based on Trip Advisor - we were not disappointed.

We were a group of 9. Started with their appetizer plate for 2 - 4 for the table. A nice selection & very tasty.

We all had a variety of mains. One dish was not as ordered, very hot vs mild & chicken vs prawn, but the manager very quickly remedied it with the replacement being excellent.

Service was very attentive with quick drink refills.

Despite the small glitch, everyone enjoyed their meal & experience and would definitely return for another meal.

“Authentically Thai”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

This doesn't look like it should be nice at all, stuck in a parade of shops in the middle of a bleak part of the A6. But it is really pleasant.

The menu is comprehensive and offers a good variety of curries, noodle and rice dishes. They are well spiced and taste like the real thing - the red and Jungle curries are particularly good. The starters are also really nice, particularly the sweet corn cakes. An odd feature is the live streaming of action from the kitchen, which means in a weird way you actually watch your dinner being prepared. And there is a DVD always playing with traditional Thai dancing that does begin to grate after half an hour. It also often seems pretty empty, though I've never been on a Friday or Saturday night - great for prompt service, but slightly lacking atmosphere.

It does seem quite pricey for the area, though, with starters averaging £5 - £7 and mains at £8 - £10. By no means exorbitant, but comparable with Manchester. Perhaps it's the cost of all that technology?

For all that, though, we've eaten here a few times and had a couple of take-aways and the food has always been excellent and the staff very courteous and efficient.

“A fabulous place to eat Thai”
Reviewed June 19, 2012

Visited with my wife (Thai) and our two children on 18th June after recommendations from friends and we were wowed by the place - we are often really disappointed with so called Thai restaurants but Siam Village was a joy to behold. The food was genuine Thai cuisine and the aromas were beautiful. The service was fast and efficient and the price not too expensive. we will definitely be going back and recommending Siam Village to our friends

“Oh dear what a shame.”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

I have visited this restaurant three times in the last month. The first two visits were fine as far as the food and service were concerned. On both occasions there was only one other table occupied.

Visited yesterday (Fathers Day) and what a difference. The restaurant was full and there was only one girl serving. Needless to say the service was a disaster. Drinks order was taken after about twenty minutes and it was another twenty minutes before drinks arrived.

The food was OK when it eventually arrived although judging by our thirst later in the evening I feel that mono sodium glutamate had been used.

When the bill arrived it was just a figure scribbled on piece of paper not the usual itemised printout. As we had visited a couple of weeks ago and had roughly the same food I knew the bill was about right. The card reader was not working so it was cash only although we were not told this when we booked earlier in the day.

All in all it felt like a restaurant in decline. Such a shame.
