“Back for the third time!”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

Just booked again, and suddenly remembered we didn't leave a review last time. In our opinion it's just the job! Previous positive reviewers have said it all. We second them. No complaints whatsoever. A very user-friendly hotel. With a bus every five minutes, from outside the door, into Manchester, it's so so quick and convenient. Heaton Chapel Station just round the corner too. Leave your car in the hotel's free car park! Okay, it's on a main road but that never bothered us.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our 8 month old son whilst we were visiting family in the area. We had a large double room with a cot, which was lovely and clean and surprisingly quiet too. The staff on arrival were really helpful and friendly and I would say it was good value for money. The continental breakfast provided was lovely and there was loads to choose from and the waitress was really lovely and helpful, heating things up for my son and making sure the highchair was nice and clean and ready for him.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back of the hotel - quieter.

Excellent value, especially if using advance saver, we could have had an extra night free too as it was over the weekend. Friendly, helpful staff, nice quiet room at the back, good size room. This is a Toby Carvery so if you don't want to eat out there is food always available. Continental breakfast included in price which is perfectly adequate. On a main bus route if you want to go into Manchester without the trouble of parking.

For a start! You can't phone up and book a room outside normal office hours (9am - 5pm) Monday to Friday! ....Not knowing this we phoned at 5.30pm, spoke to the manager of the Lodge and were told we could only book a room on-line!...So we tried!...Innkeeper's Lodge Site was easy to use and although there were no Double rooms availible for the night we wanted, the site offers an alternative room in this case it was a "Double disabled room".After already phoning the hotel once we decided to call again and enquire ,A)If it was ok to book this disabled room as we are both able bodied and did not want to deprive any would-be wheelchair users of a hotel room ! And, B) Would there be any practical problems in staying in a room designed for a wheelchair user!...We once again spoke to the manager! He said it was fine! and perfectly normal to let out this room to able bodied customers, they often did so! And that the only difference between this and a normal double room was that it was larger ,had a panic pull string alarm over the bed and a "Walk in shower room" ! Fine!..And "As you are actually in the hotel, we can't still book it with you on the phone now"? We asked! "No" On-line booking only ! ...So we booked!
On arrival (a saturday) we found out it was mostly a Pub with a carvery!....reception is "The Bar" We fought our way though the drinking customers and stood at the bar with our bags in the que and waited our turn ! eventually a bar maid called the manager who was working the Restaurant and seemed a bit "flustered"...We paid signed in ,were handed keys and given directions to this ground floor room (the only ground floor room)! NEXTDOOR to the toilets on one side and Nextdoor to the function room (on a saturday) on the other ! The room its self was fine! nice and wide ideal for a wheelchair user everything was at low level, not a problem!..The walk in bathroom/shower-room though!!!!..Oh dear!...The shower was designed for a wheelchair and was no higher than my chest, you had to stoop very low to get your head under it, we found it was best to shower kneeling down! Look! the Design of the room was ideal for a wheel chair user! But!!!! If we had known the shower was almost imposible to use (and the toilet was also an isssue) there is NO WAY i would have booked this room!
Dinner! We had the carvery! (8pm) I don't know if they were running out of meat? but were given a few slithers! Lots of veg though! Great if you are a vegetarian! Service? Awful! The staff behaved like zombies!
Back in the room, god knows what type of partition wall there was but you could hear everything from the toliets nextdoor! And i mean everything it was disgusting...Untill 11pm when the bar closed! We turned the tv to almost full to try and drown it out!...And then!!!! the function room on the otherside!!!! Well all i can say is its a good job it was a function for someones 80th birthday as it didn't go on too late but the music still thumped into our room!..Good job it wasn't a function for a young person!
Just don't lie to us!....the room should not have been let out to anyone other than a wheelchair user! and why is its nextdoor to the pubs toilets and a function room?????
Oh one more thing!.....when we arrived the room was a bit chilly ( its January) I went to the bar to find someone to turn the heating up...The manager came and fiddled behind the radiator! And said that it would be fine now! Funny how the temperature never went up! and it stayed the same all night.....I don't think he did anything? Maybe the gas bill has been to high (20% VAT)?

We stayed here for 3 nights felt the hotel has seen better days a little grubby and smelt damp after a down pour of rain. The breakfast was ok its your own fault if you leave feeling hungry. We stayed room 106 unfortunatly we could not have the windows open as the fan for the kitchen was right outside the room therefore very noisy and smelt of veg

Stayed here for one night before an early flight from Manchester Airport. Conveniently located approx 15 minutes away from the airport. Booked in advance and got the room for £29.

Arrived at about 9pm and checked in. I don't like the fact that at IKL you have to walk through the bar area to check in. The good thing about them though is that I feel they are more secure than other chains - you have to fob through 2 doors before getting to the rooms.

The room itself was ok and cleaned to a good standard. Don't know how full the hotel was but we didn't get disturbed by any other guests. Bed was quite comfortable, although they could do with having extra pillows available in the room. There was a tea making tray with biscuits, flat screen TV and hair dryer etc. Shower room was ok and had soap, towels etc provided. Didn't eat in the restaurant and didn't take advantage of the free breakfast as we left too early. My only complaint about the experience is that I could smell soggy vegtables from the Carverlry downstairs, but it wasn't that strong.

Deffinately feel got good value for money here and would stay again if I had an early flight

We have stayed at quite a few Innkeepers Lodges, and they are mostly of a similar quality.
The Stockport one is in a prime location for travelling into Manchester, Stockport ant the Trafford centre. The rooms are clean and comfortable, although my bed was a little lumpy, there is a flat screen T.V ,easy chair ,nice wardrobe and draw space ,and an excellant shower with plenty of hot water and soap and shower dispenser. There is a kettle in the room, with tea and coffee supplied and even packets of biscuits. The free breakfast is very good and you can eat as much as you like, it includes ,cereal, toast, bagels, jam, marmalade, fresh fruit and tinned, yogurts and danish pastries.
Although on a busy road we never heard any traffic noise. The staff were all helpful and pleasant and we would visit again,if the price was right.
