The fillet steak was simply perfect, says my cordon blue chef friend. The duck was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was relaxed. There was no pushing which we enjoyed. Very good value for money. The service from efficient waitresses could not be faulted. Superb situation and views. Sadly there was no apple pie this evening. Would recommend this restaurant any time.

“Five star 'Bucks”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

This venue loomed out of the misty June fine drizzle as we sped along a desolate moorland road approaching its car park for a weekday lunch not expecting it to be at all occupied. However, we had only left civilisation just a few minutes before as the car climbed the narrow steep lanes littered with picturesque cottages but were taken back how busy the place was. This is clearly a truly excellent destination dining establishment whether one opts for the well appointed dining rooms at the rear or in the main public eating/ drinking areas. As we entered the main door we were greeted by the smell of cooking from the kitchens that invited and enticed us in further.

There is literally oodles of choice! Specials boards and fixed priced menus adorn prominent blackboards and the extensive mains and sandwhiches menus are stacked up availible on the bar but be warned one is spoilt for options.Thankfully vegetarians are well catered for even causing one friend to ponder for quite some time over their options.

The staff are smartly dresssed, friendly and welcoming and service is brisk and our food was presented by a wonderfully upbeat waitress on very hot plates with equally piping hot food clearly demonstrating the kitchen staff and chef's attention to detail and customer focus. Their homemade chips were outstanding and the offer of complimentary warmed bread and butter at the table was a lovely generous touch as many town centre venues normally charge for this.

Food is served in good time despite there being many large parties celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and this portrays repeat business regular customers here like to return with friends to mark (and eat!) memorable occasions.

We did not feel rushed by the staff - nor did we actually want to leave to venture outside to the drizzle but vowed to return here very soon to show off to other friends this truly special find. The owners should be patting themselves and their staff on their backs - well done!

“As stated previously - nothing was too much trouble”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Staff extremely helpful and accommodating. Three of us had the roast beef dinner which was excellent. My dessert which was the toffee meringue was super light and fresh. The only problem we had with the food was the steak diane which was ordered was too chewy and the apple pie too tart. Overall would definitely visit again.
