Went last night with my astronomy group, 20 odd in all. We we told to go to the children's p!ay area as there would be a quiz on later. We had to arrange our own tables so the group could, for the most part, eat together. For those of us who ordered from the menu, the service was very slow, so much so, that one couple were not served until the majority of us had actually finished our meal. After putting some pressure on the waitress and manageress(?), they were eventually 'compensate' with £6 vouchers, from the quiz, for their next meal there. The vegetables at the carvery were totally totally dried out under the hot lights. Some key vegetables were missing and we were told we would have to wait some minutes before they were replenished. Not really possible to stand there in a large queue. WhilstbI appreciate the the difficulties in catering for such large numbers, I would say the efforts of the staff fell short of an expected standard. I could go on and say that the noise from the quiz p.a. system rendered normal conversation impossible, but that would be churlish. Never again for me, although I don't profess to speak for the group.

Visited for the second time. First visit OK- carvery acceptable and pensioners' special well priced.
2nd visit very unimpressive. Arrived at about 1.30 , several tables covered in dirty dishes, had to ask for a table for 6 to be cleared.
3 of our group had pots of tea, which remained on the table throughout the meal. We waited almost 30 minutes for the starter, when we went to ask for it we were told it would only be a minute, no apology. When the soup arrived it had clearly been standing for some time in the bowl, it had a thick skin on top.
Three of us had he carvery, but the others had a long wait for their fish and chips.
Last time we visited there were some good vegetarian bakes on the carvery, but none of these was available today.
Our 3 course meal took almost two and a half hours, the wait for the ice cream was excessive too! We seemed to be constantly trying to attract the attention of staff, and failing! Then having to go back to the bar to try to get our meals served!
I'm reluctant to visit again, the staff didn't apologise for the delays although we made it clear that we thought the wait had been excessive.

Absolutely shocking. Ordered half roast chicken off the menu. Arrived luke warm , chicken was more like a sparrow. Mash potato roast potato cauliflower all congeiled into one messy lump .Sliced carrots that large you could cut them into sisters again. Never again. . Save your money and eat elsewhere. Shocking !

We went as a family for what we thought would be a nice meal.
I ordered one of the specials which was sweet chilli chicken stir fry. This came with half rice and chips. When it arrived it was swimming in sauce. The chips were soggy and unedible. To top it all the rice was a curry flavoured pilau rice. Since when do you serve Indian rice with a Chinese stir fry. When I pointed this out to a member of staff the response was... oh yes. That's the only rice we have. I asked her to take the meal away. No one came over to ask if I would like something else
My husband had a steak which was grey in colour!
Appalling service and awful food! We will never be going here again! !
Thanks for nothing! !

Visited today for a family meal . Managed to just miss the teatime rush so managed to get a table straight away . Have been several times in the past and had to wait for tables . Decided not to have carvery as the last couple of times ive had it weren't good . Watery meat and dried veg . All four of us ordered from the main menu . Cheese & onion pie , cheese burger and 2 sausage & mash . The portions were huge , far too big and lots was wasted . Would be far better to make them slightly smaller and cheaper than to throw lots away . The mash was tasteless and 3 lots of salt didnt make any difference . Overall an average dining experience but huge bad point is that the tables are too squashed together . No elbow room and too close to the next tables . You can hear every word the other diners say . Couldnt fit in dessert which was a shame as they are the best things about waterfold .
