“Nice carvery (dearer at weekend), slow service at bar and till point”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

Nice carvery with a selection of meats and a good selection of vegetables to help yourself to, but had to wait quite a while to order food, queueing at the till point, then again at the bar as drinks were ordered separately. My only criticism of the carvery food was that the yorkshire puddings were very soft and chewy. I had phoned ahead to see if it was more expensive on a sunday as most carveries but was told it was the same price on saturdays. Went on the saturday but discovered that it is more expensive on both weekend days and cheaper in the week! I can't recall the exact price but it was over £8 for what is called a large plate. The large is the same price as a standard carvery elsewhere, e.g. at Toby or Crown.

“Excellent meals”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

Been there on Sunday for my grandsons Birthday, there were about 14 of us, couldn't book a table in advance had to wait for a long time, but was well worth it, the carvery is the best I have had, 4 choices of meat, and such a large variety of veg. 3 different sizes of plates, I had the middle one and was really full, no room left for a desert which looked fabulous, next time will have the smaller one to make sure there is enough room for desert. The childrens play area is really good. Would recommend this place.

“Not good”
Reviewed February 15, 2014 via mobile

This place has potential it has a little play area for children which is a great idea. The food though is not good I had leak and potato soup that looked like custard. Nobody around to clear the tables and this was mid week when it was quiet.
Won't be returning to this pub unless it gets a good clean and the food improves.

“Nice pub but crowded on weekend”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Been there yesterday, and a few times before, but the waiting at the carvery station is just ridiculous... Had to wait more than half hour, there was only one person carving the meats. They should realize that by having more staff they might double the number of guests by faster service and tables emptying in a faster rate.
Otherwise nice atmosphere amber good food !!!
