“Rare micro brewery”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Great real ale, real open fire and a real relaxing treat of a night out. Try the tasting platters to compare the ales all brewed on site. Would definately recommend. If you fancy a taste of the strong stuff in ale terms try Crowning Glory, gorgeous pint.

“Good old fashioned food and Beer”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

A pub to visit if you love real ale and real pub food. This pub/restaurant boasts a real brewery in the cellar with at least five real ales always on pump plus guest beers. Also the food is quite good steak and eggs plus a pint of nanny flier is a good combination. There is also a dinning room attached to the pub for a full sit down meal.

“Great beer,but............”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

Great beer,wonderful location,friendly locals.
So what not to like?
Service is slow, and that's a consistent thread on reviews of this place.
Staff never look smiley.
Landlord,I think,is simply a quiet bloke but there is nothing coming from him at all.
Food is just about ok and the restaurant always looks lacking in atmosphere.
So,if you want a pub with great beer then go for it. As a restaurant, there are better places elsewhere.

“Good grub”
Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

Great food and beer, service a little slow but worth the wait after all life's to short to rush. Better food than I have had in some top end restaurants.
Will be back again soon.

“dinning desaster”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

the rag is one of our favourite places to eat the food is always good but the service is slow----the last time was not our usual experience
we normally eat in the dinning room but due to an oversight we where not informed when we booked that there was a large birthday party booked in at same time-- which ment that we would have to eat in the bar area---that was the start of the rot --we were left for over 40 mins before our order was finally taken --it then took an other 15 mins before we got our starter--- the whole experience took over 2 hrs
and the food was not up to their usual standard
