“Terrible experience”

Booked for twelve however we all had to sit apart, no chicken at all on the menu, all meals came out at different times with 5 meals being missed and by the time they came the remainder of the party had finished eating. Total disorganisation, would never go back and have submitted a complaint to Marstons direct!

“Homely and friendly”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Came here with a friend for lunch. Great welcoming atmosphere, the staff had just received 5 stars. It's been years since I came here and will definitely come again. Proper homemade chips and great service. Nice to have a pub like this on the doorstep.

“Lovely friendly cheap pub”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

I came here for lunch with my boyfriend in feb 2014. I had a jacket potato with prawns and my boyfriend had new york bbq chicken (cant remember the name for sure). On arrival, we were greeted by a gorgeous black labrador, a lovely touch to a local pub if you ask me. Later on another very friendly dog came into the pub and came over for some fuss. I understand some people aren't comfortable with this, so if you're not, don't go. We were both very impressed with our lunch and very pleasantly surprised at the cost. £6-7 for the meals and the same for a round of a large wine and pint of guiness. It was very laid back in there and the staff were extremely friendly. Very nice for a bite to eat for not many pennies.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

We stayed at the nearby hotel and decided to pop in here. We were welcomed instantly and felt at home. The regulars are all friendly. Food is excellent - we went back the next day for more. Lots of variety on the menu. We will deffiently be back - to work through the menu. Thanks for making us welcome

“Its become a low cost food and very average beer pub”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

Its been a year since we visited and although the décor hasn't changed the food on offer is now Marston's chain food and its low cost fare. We dined on a Saturday evening with a few people in the restaurant when we arrived at 20.00 but by the time we left the place was empty. I had the mixed grill which was a poor . a small piece of steak, a very small piece of ham fried eggs as they had run out of sausages! oven chips which were awful and some strange luminous green things that were described as peas. The boss had ribs but really didn't want that dish but the chicken dishes on the menu were all out of stock. Its pretty poor stuff.
We had a bottle of hardy's shiraz, a couple of desserts and the whole lot came to £31 so it is cheap. However its not what we want and wouldn't return of the beers we tried during the visit the Bank's was of but the scuttle but had seen better days. Not for us Im afraid
