“Good Food and Beer”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

I Visited the Bay Horse on Tuesday 24th July to try out their offer of a burger which came with chips trimmings and a free drink for £5.25. I went for the Banks Bitter. The meal and the beer tasted excellent, the service was superb. I will certainly visit this place in the near future

“Excellent, don't now what the bloke who came yesterday is on about!”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

Travelled 4 hrs today and wanted a nice pub to bring the kids. Saw The Bay and thought we would try it. Friendly staff, was 'grill night', meal and a beer for a fiver. Made sure my meal was gluten free for me and steak was beautiful. Husband had Brakspear and says it was beautiful. We'll be back tomorrow!

“Great for a quick dinner, or just a drink!”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

My husband and myself go to this pub quite regularly, and have seen it change hands many times over the last 10 years!

The owners now are very friendly, and the food is here is cheap and cheerful. I think an 8oz rump steak with chips and a grilled tomato for £5.75 is pretty excellent value! The pub is very child and dog friendly, good for us as we have a 3 month old baby and a dog! Give it a try.

“Good, honest food with incredibly good value”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

As a tight Northerner, I was quite pleased to get a nice room at the Stourport Manor Hotel for a very reasonable sixty quid, but wasn’t feeling the urge to spend at least fifteen quite on a main course there. A two minute walk leads you to the Bay Horse though; a traditional pub with plenty of ale on tap, friendly staff and what I can safely describe as one of the most reasonable menus I’ve yet to encounter on my travels.

Word of warning here; the Bay Horse is part of the Marston’s pub chain, so the menu is very much chain pub fayre, but don’t take that as a bad thing, because it really isn’t.

The pub itself consists of two main areas; the main bar sports seating for eating, whilst around the corner is a large dining area away from the social gabblings of the bar. We’d had a long day, so that’s where we went.

Again, going back to the previous point about pub fayre, I chose the hunter’s chicken (supplied with copious amounts of chips and salad) whilst my Wife went for that old staple, sausages and mash (lots of vegetables and not skimpy on the gravy).

Two mains, a lemonade, half a pint of ale and a glass of water. Twelve quid exactly.

Expectations may not be high at this point, but the quality of the food really was excellent. Again, if you’re expecting high-end gastro-pub, you’re in for a disappointment, but if you’re after honest, well prepared, tasty food, then this really fits the bill; you’ll just find that the bill happens to be incredibly reasonable!

Away from the food, the service was very good, the atmosphere pleasant and the place itself clean, the value of which can’t be over-stated. Plenty of parking outside for those who’re travelling, but if you’re staying at the Manor, take the two minute walk, have yourself a drink or two with dinner, then work some of it off with the walk back!

Thoroughly recommended!
