“Golden Goose”

This is a nice relaxed dining pub. Food very good and very reasonably priced. Plenty parking and a bargain carver every day. Free curry on quiz nights too!

“Good value during the week, not so on Sunday”
Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

£4.20 during the week for the Carvery represents good value for money. The meat was ok but the spuds and veg had a slight manufactured feel (frzn peas and sweet corn) hence at this price point it is hard to justify why anyone would be unhappy.
However on a Sunday the price is £7.20 and so pushes the value / quality / expectation. I was also surprised to pay £3.20 for a pint of coke post mix as this is not consistent with the "value pricing" message they are promoting.
Therefore this sunday combination starts to put The GG in the region of the Washford Mill close by or the local Toby. The WM is £1.70 more for the meal, and in my opinion well worth it. The Toby is nearly £3 more but offers free fizzy drink top ups.
In conclusion yes I would come back but only during the week and not when I am very thirsty.

“Lovely Carvery to visit.”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

This Carvery is a bit more off the beaten track but well worth visiting. The Car Park is a good size. Can get very busy as it is very popular. The food is excellent & value for money. The staff are very good. Lots of people use the garden area. Has a very good play area for children. Really good atmosphere.

“Great value family carvery”
Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

We turned up here looking for food as the restaurant attached to our premier inn was heaving. Plenty of room, warm welcome, good choice of real ales and friendly staff. Carvery was fabulous value. £3.99 for the kids which included a sweet and £4.20 for my wife and I. Choice of beef, turkey, pork and gammon and of course you could have done of each. Nice big yorkie pudding and a nice selection of vegetables. All looked and tasted pretty fresh. Best of all it was more or less instantly available (kids were starving) and great value. Just over £20 for all the meals and drinks. Hard to beat for food quality and price on a busy Friday night
