“Great place to stay”
Reviewed May 19, 2008

Stopped here for one night due to attending a wedding reception at the hotel next door. At £39 it was an absolute bargain. The room was spacious, clean and had a very nice flat screen tv! The view was beautiful, looking onto a field. The staff were helpful when we checked in and out. The only downside was that we had to make the single bed up ourself (due to having a family room), and the bedding was supposed to be in the room, but it wasnt so we had to go down and request it.

  • Liked — The flat screen TV!
  • Disliked — Making up the single bed ourselves!

We used this hotel as an overnight stop off to break up a journey -(and the £29 offer helped - believe it is usually £51!!). The room was very clean and modern with everything you need - just be aware that they do not provide toiletries which is fair enough but could be a problem if you did not bring your own. The parking is also free.

It appears to be a converted series of barns which gives a lovely feel to the place unlike usual Travelodges which are clean and functional but usually just plain modern buildings.

Redditch is on your doorstep (1-2 miles) if you want the town - but the hotel is next to a restaurant/bar which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (currently 2 for 1 offer) making it very convenient.

We would definitely use this one again if we were in the area.

This was a recently opened hotel and as such was clean and well decorated. The staff on the desk ranged from pretty and helpful to pretty unhelpful !
If there was ever to be a national door banging competition, this lodge would win. Either this hotel has been built without regard to soundproofing or the door closers are too strong. The whole purpose of a hotel is somewhere to sleep, well good luck because if there are others guests you can guarantee disturbed sleep. It is bad enough with staff banging the doors and talking outside your door, but some guests above us occupying 2 rooms left at 2.30 am and let their kids run up and down the corridors (Wooden floors) for an hour after 1am and go in and out of their rooms banging doors again !
While this was not caused by the Travelodge, I hold the hotel responsible for not curtailing this behaviour, the reception desk was below and must have heard. They were unable to move us on the previous night when we complained. It really puts me off low cost accommodation !
The hotel is in an excellent position with plenty of parking for guests in a barrier controlled car park. Noise from the pub is minimal compared to noise from inside !
The pub next door is better than some reviewers suggest. We had a good cheap pub meal and joined in the pub quiz, where we were made to feel very welcome. Didn't try their breakfasts. The pub was very busy with many locals too, who were friendly to us. So it can't be that bad !
Redditch town has a medium size undercover shopping mall with cinema. The rest of the town would be vastly improved if the town were rid of marauding teenagers, the large visible police presence indicating the scale of the problem. We also ate at Chicago Rock and enjoyed that for a pre-cinema meal.
The train station is a short drive from the Travelodge and offers good regular transport to Brum and elsewhere, including Cadbury world ( which was fun).

Opened 2007 so all is quite fresh. Staff very attentive. Accommodation, room facilities and décor are extremely basic but adequate. Easy access to Birmingham. Booking on line at £39 per night was good value for this area.

Excellent stay over the Xmas period - quiet location even if next to a pub - breakfast served in pub next morning but did not sample - plenty of parking - courteous staff - clean modern rooms - could not fault except room was not serviced on last night (New Years Day) suppliesleft outside door. Even Travelodge staff deserve a day off - no problems whatsoever - no hesitation to stay again. Great for Birmingham and surrounding Stratford - Warwicks area - not far from M42.

Staying two nights at the Travelodge, Redditch while attending a wedding, the hotel itself was standard Travelodge fare. The adjoining restaurant, the Marston's Inns "Meadow Farm" was quite appalling.
In the evening they have a 2 for 1 menu which is all small portions and microwaved rubbish and I thought it would be difficult to have a worse breakfast. How wrong I was.
I have stayed in many hotels through work from the standard UK chains, and this has to be the worst breakfast I have ever had.
By all means use the hotel for the overnighter but keep away from the adjoining restaurant.
