We have just celebrated our wedding with families and friends at the Old Rectory. It was as said above the best day ever. Nothing was too much trouble for Pam, Mike, Jackie and all the staff and they made our day so special. The whole thing was relaxed and leisurely and went off without a hitch. Can't thank everyone enough! It was perfect and I will be shouting their praises to everyone I know. Thank you one and all.

Room Tip: The rooms are all different and quirky. We were spoilt for choice but clearly the bridal suite ticke...

Following the death of my Father I decided to book The Old Rectory for the funeral reception having been once before, Pam remembered me and made such a terrible time so much nicer for me and my family to relax in after the Funeral. Nothing is too much trouble for Pam and the service you receive is second to none ! The gardens were beautiful and the family was able to sit in the gardens and simply relaxing without anyone else around.

Having gone on such a sad occassion myself and a group of friends decided to go back and celebrate a 65th Birthday. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we were given a guided tour of the grounds and hotel by Pam. It was so nice to go back and feel at ease with a group of friends. Everyone had a great night and loved the food, gardens, hotel, atmosphere and most of all Pam that made the night. Everyone is now planning for an excuse to go back !

As always I enjoyed my recent stay at this family owned hotel. I stay in hotels a lot & try to find places that are a bit different & provide a more personal service. The Old Rectory Hotel never disappoints. It ticks all the boxes, beautiful house & gardens, comfortable individually furnished rooms, a warm welcome, good service, & great home-cooked food. What more can I ask for when away from home!. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Booked here on business trip. Arrived late due to delayed flight but was treated to a very friendly welcome. Room was clean and quaint - 4 poster bed, old furniture etc. All essentials were evident- iron, tea and coffee, water etc. No air con but opened windows on both sides of the room.
It was only upon waking up in the daylight that I appreciated how lovely the setting/ gardens were.
Fantastic breakfast - very good quality ingredients.
Finally I realised after travelling on downtown London that I had forgotten something but the owners arranged for this to be shipped back to my house.
Was told by the owners that booked up at weekends months in advance - I can see why - a absolute gem.

Hotel and gardens beautiful, however the owners were very unapproachable and rude, to the point we felt uncomfortable. For the price of the room we really wanted to enjoy the occasion and make the most of it but felt we had to be on our best behaviour when the staff were around. £3 for a can of carling. Bar sold wine by glass or bottle. As it was a hot day, a friend asked if we bought a bottle, could it be kept chilled in between topping up, but was told no! and we would have purchase individual glasses instead. You can hire garden games to play on the lawn; £50 for a Tesco plastic Baule set, Tesco giant draught set and hoops and crosses. Breakfast was only offered at a set time of 9am so little flexibility. Only food/drinks purchased from the hotel is allowed which is difficult with young children! No air conditioning- big sash windows which are quite low to floor.

Room Tip: Check if your room is en suite. Some have an allocated bathroom instead.

We had a Sunday lunch here for our charity, Redditch Lions, there were 44 of us and we hd a wonderful time. The staff under the guidance of Jackie were excellent, the conservatory looked amazing and the food was excellent. After lunch we went into the garden and had our coffee and were able to continue to socialise. The organisation of the whole day was of a very high standard, so much so that we intend to do it all again next year.

THE HISTORY The Old Rectory House Hotel is probably the best kept secret in the Worcestershire county, it has stood on this site for several hundreds of years and has a wealth of historical connections. The house lies between the original Roman built Icknield Street, which runs along the far boundary, and the monastic carp lakes at the rear of the property. The Doomsday Book lists a building on this site in 1086, during which time Lady Godiva's son was Lord of the Manor. The Great Grandson of Sir Christopher Wren lived in the house for over forty years and made a number of alterations in that time. He completely modernised the original Elizabethan house in 1812 by adding a Georgian facade to the front elevation of the building. ... more   less
