Went here 3yrs ago for a hen party so decided to use the spa package again for a friends 40 th was disappointing from start to finish ( apart from the beauty treatments no fault there) we assumed we were going to relax all day in our robes ( like last time ) only to be told this was not included in the package so we were given towels to wrap round us as we did not have anything with us x as we could not get into rooms til two and first treatment was at nine in the morning we were all disappointed x needless to say rather than spoil our friends day we went along with it ,,, later we were all given our keys can I just say the rooms need a bit decoration and the shower was not very clean ( mould residue ) we then went for dinner ( tucked up the top end of the restaurant ) we were all in a merry mood given to the money we spent in the bar in the afternoon !!! our food was served in a way that had GET THEM OUT QUICK feel we had to ask one meal to be sent back ( cold steak ) then we were asked to keep quite even tho the other two tables nearby were also very merry x that did it we got a taxi to redditch rather than spend any more money there xx will never return there again !!!! Can I ask why the 30 golfers were not told to be quiet ??????

Dear Bageyes,

Thank you for staying with us at the Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa to celebrate your friend’s 40th birthday and for taking the time to share your thoughts with the Trip Advisor community.

We were delighted to read that you enjoyed elements of your stay but disappointed that certain elements did not meet with your approval.

Firstly I would like apologise that you were not given your robes on arrival, this was an oversight on our part and I understand a full apology was given to you on the day.

With regards to your bedrooms, I have spoken with our housekeeping team to ensure that the issues you have raised have been rectified and can assure future guests that we are constantly investing and improving our bedroom product.

Our food and beverage team are always striving to provide the very best service possible and you were seated on the booth in our restaurant which in my opinion is a superb table and I understand that our restaurant manager offered you breaks between courses as your table was allocated for the whole night.

As you say after a heady mix of alcohol we do have to consider all guests dining and our request for you to tone down your behaviour in our opinion was not an unreasonable request to ensure that all guests enjoyed their evening.

Once again we are sorry that you did not have an enjoyable stay with us and wish to assure you that where necessary we will learn from your comments.

Kindest regards,
John

Hotel was good although the rooms were small.staff were wonderful and the food first class.I know from past experience that the more expensive rooms are very nice and roomy.
The golf course was pretty well empty of players which suited us.the course itself is attractive although I believe some money needs to be spent on fairways and greens.the greens were not in good shape perhaps as a result of the recent bad weather. We felt the cost for golf expensive in view of the state of the course . Overall though we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will certainly go back

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and get more room facing golf course

Dear brilorn,

Many thanks for your “Good Hotel” review following your golf break at the Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa. We are delighted to read your comments about our wonderful staff and first class food, it really does mean the world to us here.

We understand your concerns regarding the greens, this is due us being 4-6 weeks behind normal growing conditions – because of the bad winter and exceptionally cold March. Our Spring top dressing has been delayed 1 month (has now happened this week). With warmer temperatures and grass finally growing our daily cutting and rolling has now resumed and the putting surfaces are already looking much better. We feel our rates are very competitive and regularly have various discount vouchers on offer on our website for our guests to take advantage of.

Overall we’re really pleased you enjoyed yourself and we will all be looking forward to your return visit.

Kindest regards,
John

I was invited to the Abbey Golf & Country club by a friend for a round of golf and some lunch and I have to say it was superb. The course was great, really challenging and a lot more so than the scorecard would have you believe, some great holes, I particularly enjoyed the 6th which a great little par 3 and very tough. The practice facilities were excellent and the range is brilliant, the shop really well stocked and the pro's really helpful and friendly, the game was great value too. We also had lunch in the golf bar upstairs, the Abbey burger was nice and the chunky chips were very good although hotter than lava!! A great day out and I will definately be coming back.

im writing this my room as I have to say I am very impressed with this hotel.

Booked it only this morning for 70 Euro - was a little bit hesitant as my experience in England is that usually reasonably priced 4* hotels are crap - not this one!

Lovely receptionist, cavernous bedroom which is well appointed, very good gym which I used and the pool area looks decent. golf course looks a bit unloved but thats nothing to do with my experience here.

Ordered room service tonight and I have to say that both the chicken and cheese cake were really good - there was loads of taste there as compared to my experience in both worldwide chains in Bromsgrove and NEC birmingham in my most recent stays in this area...and they didnt charge silly money either..............oh and free wifi as well.......holiday inn at Birmingham NEC/airport charge £15.00 for this....the mind boggles

Nice to see a hotel that is living in the real world.....if they charged me another 10 euro for the room I would still stay here...well done and take a bow........

Stayed with a group of friends and family for a 3 night stay and had a fantastic time.

Have visited The Abbey several times and always enjoy it.

Rooms are clean and spacious, beds are extremely comfortable and the showers perfect for a morning wake up!

The food was as always, delicious. Breakfast plentiful, sunday lunch had something for everyone and Tawny's bar meals were ideal when we were peckish in the sunshine!

The staff are great at the hotel and some of them even recognise us now which only makes us feel even more welcome.

Will no doubt be back soon!

I've stayed at the abbey on a number of occasions and have always found it to be a exceptional hotel.

The staff are always friendly nothing is too much of a trouble and the rooms are superior to other nearby hotels

I've had Sunday lunch on two occasions and have always found the food to be brilliant

Nearby to most areas of Birmingham and with close rail links I would certainly recommend the hotel and facilities
