Owner description: Built in the late 1970's the Abbey golf course has now matured into a fine, championship standard parkland course measuring over 6,500 yards. Designed by Donald Steel, one of Britain's leading course architects the course has been extensively upgraded and lengthened in recent years. Home to the Best Western Senior Masters final in 2006 the course now regularly hosts county matches and high profile corporate days. The layout includes matured trees, lakes and on the whole the fairways are wide with the rough not too punishing, the picturesque 7th is a 192 yard drive from the medal tee with the green surrounded on three sides by the river arrow. The 13th is a challenging uphill par 4 drive between two mature oak trees at 250 yards with the green concealed out of sight at the top of the hill.We offer Par 72 18 hole course, driving range, putting green, buggy hire, teaching and coaching support.

Returned to the Abbey after a break of several years. Pro shop staff helpful. The course is a good challenge for most levels of golfer with no two holes the same. Recent alterations to the layout were maturing nicely. Some tees and other parts were scruffier than I remembered, however, and most of the bunkers suffered from a lack of sand. This was a great pity as I was looking forward to playing it again. I know the management and green staff do care about their course so I hope these deficiencies have been rectified by now.

Played here a few years ago - very good course that winds in and out of the houses. But more expensive than average.

Played hear as part of the 4 ball for £75 which sounded a good deal. Tees were in poor condition. Either very bear and patchy or grass very long. Sand was very hard and tough. Greens were mainly good but plenty of stones on them. Some lovely holes and could be a very good course if a few things were sorted. Wouldn't pay £35 a round a weekends.
