Owner description: The Severn Valley Railway offers a fantastic heritage steam and diesel service between Kidderminster, Worcestershire and Bridgnorth Shropshire. We operate over 200 days a year and offer a perfect day out that includes a superb visitor centre at Highley Station called The Engine House.

Got on the train at the Country Park Halt, the train will only stop there if you put your hand out,or someone is getting off. We bought a circular ticket which was quite expensive,(I think it was £17.50 each),but we could get on and off at different stops. We went first to Kidderminster and had a look around the Railway Museum, back on board we could see Rhino's and Elephants in the grounds of Bewdley Safari Park as we passed by. As we didn't have enough time,we opted not to get off at the engine shed and so carried on to the end of the line at Bridgenorth to have a look around the town and take a ride on the Castle Hill railway before boarding the train back to the Country Park Halt. Word of warning..if you want to get off at the Halt you must inform the guard beforehand or the train will not stop there.

Been many times, be it to do the the dining train or hoping on and off with a rover ticket the SVR is a great day out for all.
All the volunteers and staff pleasant.
All ways travel in using the London midland train service from Birmingham moor street, drops you at the door step of the SVR at Kidderminster. Frequent and reasonably priced.
If your going to do the Sunday dining train you need to book months in advance its very popular and food and service is great.

We went on the Severn valley railway from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth. We stopped off at Highly on the way to visit the transport museum which was very good. The Severn valley passes through some lovely areas in the countryside. When we got to Bridgnorth we went to the higher town which had some nice country shops and bakers also lots of pubs to go with the town Bridgnorth.

We travelled from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth stopping off at a Highley to see the exhibition. The train journey passed through some lovely scenery and Highley was a little treat in itself.

I enquired with SVR about the cost of tickets for my 19 year old SLD and autistic son and two carers - he requires 2:1. My son has been in the past as a child on the railway and really enjoyed the experience.
I was told that I would have to purchase three adult tickets at a cost of £17 each which came to £51 however they would only deduct £6 from this total as a concession for his disability and that he needs two carers.
Shame on you - this is obviously a way to ensure people with a learning disability and need carers to access and enjoy this experience are discriminated against by making it too expensive - and you need to review your equal opportunities policies especially bearing in mind the SVR is reliant on lottery and public funding.
