“Great hot chocolate”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

We got to see and taste some 18th century recipes.
We bought the hot chocolate with cardamom and long pepper and it is gorgeous. We also got to see cocoa beans being ground by hand.

It is conveniently located in Bewdley museum which has free entry. The owner is very knowledgeable and passionate about the recipes which makes it even more interesting to visit.

“Ye Great Old Shop Of Stuff!”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Spotted this gem on the Guardian's Travel website. As it's on our doorstep we really wanted to pay a visit and we were not disappointed. It was a little bit tricky to find nearby parking and the actual store. Just head for the Tourist Information in the Town Centre and head "out the back" towards the Shambles. We would have loved to have spent more time, but as usual, the small-minded council only let us park for an hour before we had to move and there was a real lack of car spaces anyway.

Had superb service from the owner/shop-keeper, who was dressed in Georgian attire and was great at explaining all the different items for sale.

There are some utterly unique items for sale here. After much deliberation, we plumped for the 17th & 18th Century Hot Chocolate, 1596 Stew Mix (about £4 each) and some spices (75p each). Loved the packaging with the seal and we can't wait to cook them! The Tudor games for purchase looked a lot of fun.

Bring lots of notes and coins as it's cash only purchases for now as they don't have any credit card facilities yet.

We loved it here and will certainly be regular customers. It's fantastic and there's nothing else like it!

I am delighted that you enjoyed your visit, and I remember chatting with you. Having just had one of our 18th century hot chocolates as the temperature drops I hope that you are enjoying both of yours!

Parking can be a bit of a problem for visitors to Bewdley but there are two pay-&-display car parks on both sides of the town. We are a new business, so we don't do credit cards at the moment but will try to cater for them when we can.

Thank you for your kind review! Not just because it is our first... But we do like to hear from those who have visited us. I hope you will call in again.
