Prebooked this restaurant after reading Trip Advisor reviews. The pub was very olde worlde and quaint, full of history. We sat in the restaurant area and selected the Sunday roast beef. Wow, what an excellent choice. Very, very generous portions of beef and a huge variety of vegetables. Very enjoyable. I then opted for a cheese board which, again, was very generous with a good selection of cheeses and the home made chutney was perfect. The pub was holding a charity quiz night and the bar was very busy which provided a good atmosphere. The young waiting and bar staff were friendly and efficient. To sum up the food was excellent value for money and we consider it well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Visited here after an evening walk with my daughter (she's 21 so not a child). Lovely pub. However, when we asked for a menu we were told the tables in the bar were for drinkers only. This isn't a problem except that there were two people eating in there already - must be regulars we thought. We sat down to have our drinks and noticed food was then served to another table in the bar!! Then yet another couple in the bar got up and paid their bill (obviously for food). Really felt as though they did not want us there. I must add the young lady wasn't unpleasant but this didn't make up for the " local pub for local people" feeling we got. Ended up having delicious chips by the

This pub/restaurant is well worth a visit, such a great atmosphere and gorgeous food! They have an amazing selection of homemade pies, which seems to be their speciality! They have all the favourites and some really special ones like the Desperate Dan Pie and the Feta & sweet potato filo pie! Both are gorgeous and come in small, medium or large! Roasts are good as well. The pub is great value and has such a cosy atmosphere! Staff are welcoming! You may have to book as the restaurant is small! Well worth a visit, fab little gem!

First visited on Wednesday for a drink but was so impressed decided to return on Thursday to eat too. Suffice to say, we were not disappointed. Although we'd booked by phone message, and I'd missed the reply we turned up to be reassured that a table would be ready for us and it was!
The staff were genuinely attentive and sincere, and from the moment we arrived we were treated as guests.
Be aware that when the menu says pies come in small, medium and large, add extra in front of the size. And as we shared a starter - whitebait - had two pies, medium Moroccan chicken and large Desperate Dan Beef, we then chose to shared a cheese board. We were impressed with it all. Mind you the the Hereford hop cheese must be an acquired taste as it left us a bit cold. Great ales - included CAMRA discount on the most local ale - and good priced wines. Heartily
recommend this fine establishment. Try a walk in the Jubilee gardens before you sit down to dine as you'll need on after
