Although we were staying over a pub you wouldn`t have known, there was very little noise even with the window open.We ate in the pub and although it was quite busy we were served in a reasonable time and for the money the food we had was excellant.
As this was our first stay at a Weatherspoons hotel we were quite impressed and look forward to staying in some of thier other hotels.

A Wetherspoons Lodge (and cheap price to match) inside a historic hotel on a lovely street in the centre of beautiful Bewdley. Carpark round the back and a very small reception area on the side, all the ground floor is given over to the bar apart from the aforementioned reception. Olde Worlde feel (real), thin stairways, short corridors, loads of levels to navigate your way around.

Room was large, had a TV, plenty of space for clothes and all the lights worked as did the shower and toilet. Clean fluffy towels and a good bed. Breakfast is taken in the bar areas and you pay for whatever you wish from the normal menu, so breakfast is as cheap or expansive as you want.

All in all a pleasant place at a super price.

I was trying to find somewhere to stay at the last minute and aimed for bed and breakfasts for value. As all of the local B&B's fI phoned failed to return my calls I looked into late deals on local hotels. There I found this gem of a hotel. The price was lower than any of the local B&B's and the breakfast was cheap and very well cooked. The staff were informative and very polite and welcoming from the moment I booked over the phone to being welcomed at reception and shown my single room. The room was small but quiet at the back of this lovely 18th century building on the 1st floor . I couldn't hear the bar below or the church bells in the town square. The on suite bathroom was new and very well appointed and very clean . There was a new flatscreen telly on the wall from the bed with plenty of storage with ironng board and iron and a desk with facilities for making a cuppa. Herbal teas were offered as I dont drink tea or coffee. I returned 2 days later and stayed again and was made equally welcomed and will be using this hotel for future visits. I can really recommend this place. Next time I stay I'd like a room at the front just to see out onto this beautiful town's square. Bar staff were polite and friendly and the food in the evening was very well priced and well cooked and served quickly. Bewley is a gem of a historic town on a river setting with loads of quaint old pubs. It worth coming here for a leisure visit to see the town, beautiful river setting and countryside and useful for the safari park. Planning to bring my family here.

The George Hotel must once have been a wonderful place to stay, right in the heart of Bewdley. But it is now owned by the Wetherspoon pub chain and suffers from a lack of motivated staff and poor catering.
The rooms are OK- we stayed on the 3rd floor (two rooms, self and wife, son and girlfriend- to be as far aways as possible from the pub which has a licence until 1am on Saturdays (the night we stayed). These were small but quite charming in an old fashioned way; but the original windows do not have double glazing, and while our room was quiet as it overlooked the back, my son's room suffered from street noise and the chiming of the church clock. Amazing that no one seems to have suggested to the church authorities that the clock could be silenced after midnight! That said the price, £55 per room per night was very reasonable.
But this did not include breakfast. We ventured into the pub at 10am where several patrons were already downing pints of beer but the idea of queing up at the bar to order breakfast from the bog-standard illustrated breakfast menu held no appeal and we went elsewhere (the recently re-opened South Side restaurant which does a decent breakfast and has an excellent restaurant upstairs).
All in all not a great experience and doubt if would stay there again. Although there was a notice at the reception desk offering non-feather pillows (my son has an asthma allegy) we were told sorry non-feather pillows were not available. Why not? Either provide them or don't claim to have them! Staff were very pleasant though.

Hi

I would like to apologise for your stay with us at the George Hotel. We have taken measures to make sure non-feather pillows are available to all customers who require them, 24hrs a day. We continue to coach our staff on the needs and service standards we and our customers expect and hope on future visits you will see and experience this.

Have a good New Year

Due to having to attend a 'team meeting' it was decided that we would all book into the George. What a gem of a hotel. The reception area was very small but very well managed and we were all given a parking permit for the public car park at the rear of the hotel. The rooms varied in size from 'bijou' to spacious. This didn't detract from the accommodation as this building is Georgian so the best use of space isn't uniform.

Below the accommodation is a JD Wetherspoon house serving quality pub food. The night we all stayed was a 'Steak Night' with plenty of offers and promotions to choose from, all well cooked.

The bed was extremely comfy complete with feather pillows - bliss!

Breakfast was served downstairs and the menu only lacked a fresh fruit and yoghurt choice but that is just my preference. There was plenty of hot breakfast choices and it was all very well cooked.

The hotel, food and location was so good that I fully intend to return with my husband for a weekend. Only one little downside if you are used to sleeping in peace and quiet, the church bells ring every quarter hour but wasn't a problem to me.

I arranged a fishing trip for a party of 19 men. Both the overall manager and Hotel manageress were so helpful and accomadating to all of our needs. Being a JD Wetherspoons food and ale were both excellent standard and value. All staff are so friendly, what more can I say but we all highly reccomend the George Hotel and have already booked up for next years event. Thanks to all.

I have stayed here on many occassions over the years whilst in Kidderminster for business. Travelling from USA I found it to be a real friendly place that serves a great breakfast and the rooms are spot on. No it's not a Hilton and is certainly not a Motel 6 and likely the place is older than America. For whatever reason you are in the area stay at The George. It will be a fond memory I assure you
