Haven't tried the food, so can't comment on that. Some of my friends and myself visited this 'PUB' on Friday 15th Nov, beer was good, (we are real ale drinkers) enjoying the night until all the ales started to go off, asked the staff if they were going to replace them, they said no we don't do that, so we were left with the alternative of drinking the fizzy rubbish, we said no thanks and left, won't come back here in a hurry.

We are sorry to hear that your experience at The Magazine Hotel was not fulfilling. We pride ourselves on our real ales and always try to offer a wide variety from a very compact cellar. As we are renowned for our Bass which is changed 3 times daily due to high demand, this places space restrictions for our guest ales and does not allow us to rack as much as we would like. The head height in the cellar does not allow us to double rack, meaning we are only able to have enough space for the current beer that is running on each guest line and a second barrel ready to replace them. If we have an unexpectedly high demand for 1 of our real ales, this can result in us running out and the next beer not being quite ready and we would not sell beer in anything other than top condition.
We have taken on board your comments and consulted with our duty manager who informed us that on the evening you visited we had Bass, Josephine Butler and Shipwreck IPA all available. We did have an issue with the Thwaites not being clear and therefore we would not sell beer that was below par.

This is a well known extremely popular local pub serving real ales, good hearty meals & has a lovely beer garden. Very much a local pub with an older clientèle, the traditional wood & brass décor give it a real homely feel & relaxed ambience.

I would argue that Bridget the cook does the best roast dinners I've ever tasted - definitely the best in Wallasey, I've tried all the rest! Fairly priced, good portions, quick service & on hot plates! :)

The pub is a few seconds off the prom, well worth a visit!
