We bought a bargain Groupon deal; £69 for two nights b&b and a welcome drink on arrival. We would have been very unhappy paying the full price which would have been about £190.

A summary of the issues:
- slightly uninterested staff although friendly enough.
- non functioning shower and when reported we were given the keys to a room where guests had vacated to use their shower....stepping over the used towels on the floor. That shower had even less pressure ( I am talking about a dribble at best, unless you want a cold shower).
Having struggled to wash long hair in the bath we were told that it was odd the shower wasn't working as noone had reported it. And that it would get fixed that day. Nothing happened and no-one mentioned it again. So we had another bath before skipping the very ordinary breakfast and departing the following morning.
- breakfast options were tea or coffee ( no offer of juice despite a juice type glass sitting empty on the table), and a choice between basic fry up or coissants.

The place served its purpose as we just wanted somewhere cheap to stay near Bath, but the fact that we were not asked how our stay was when we checked out before the free breakfast goes some way to explain the lack of effort on show.

Oh, and the room had a large diagonal decor crack, peeling ceiling with old water mark from a previous leak, black exhaust marks on wall from...I have no idea, suspect substance splattered on wall behind wc, hair on bath that didn't belong to either of us, bulbs out and not replaced and lots of dust on show between the secondary glazing.

The bed was comfy and clean.

Photos available on request.

If there is another Groupon deal I would say give it a go but skip breakfast, but at full price I wouldn't bother.

On another note, Bath is as good as it ever was and always worth a visit.

We had booked through a special deal and stayed for two nights. This is an 18th Century building and has the quirkiness you would expect......Yes it does need some decoration but these things take time and the hotel has a new manager.....the beds were firm and comfortable.....the rooms were clean.....and the food was superb!!!!
We have no complaints and would stay there again.
We onnly say average for the room as it does need 'a lick of paint!'

We stayed here last night as we had a friends party to go to just down the road, when we arrived there was no one on reception so we had to wait at the bar till the young lad was free so we asked him to check us in, he was obviously a new member of staff, he was nice and polite.
We went up to our room, number 2! on the way up we noticed it was a little run down in places, wish id taken some photos now, the room wasnt what i expected for £90 it was in desperate need of an update, there was chipped paint, dated carpet, dusty units, filthy window which was an old sash window which was covered over with a plastic one, if there had been a fire we wouldnt of got out of the window put it that way, im surprised this is allowed for health and safety reasons, the bathroom was in need of a good clean, cheap 1 ply toilet paper! cheap naff toiletries, dirty tiles, generally not up to standard for the price of £90 a night, this inc the price of breakfast which wasnt that great, my husband had a regular fry up i ordered the bacon bap, which turned up as a bacon sarnie on stale paper thin bread, no butter, had to ask for butter for hubbys toast, nice decor downstairs but could do with a good clean everywhere.
really need to review your pricing or update your rooms to the level people would expect for paying that amount.

Room Tip: dont choose number 2! the number says it all! :(

Stayed here for a wedding...room was average- dated décor and really old mattress- we rolled into each other all night long! Wasn't completely clean upon checking in- the toilet hadn't been cleaned, the shower hadn't been cleaned, there were nail clippings on the carpet and I was inspired to check the sheets- which, thankfully, looked fresh.

I advised the front desk but by then I'd already sorted most things out- requested a hoover and a wipe down in the bathroom in any case- the shared ironing board was so disgusting my partner attended the wedding with a wrinkled shirt.

It was close to the wedding venue- so it was convenient and most of the guests were staying here- but I wouldn't recommend it.

The price (over £100 for one night) was way over the top and the cooked breakfast was average.

Room Tip: We had 6 of the 10 rooms booked for our party and all were the same- tired, in need of some paint an...

i called a few weeks back to confirm our booking and that we could check in early as we had a wedding up the road and needed to get changed, this was all fine and booked in and the price of £75 was confirmed.
i called up the night before we arrived to check our room had a bath and again, checked the price as i booked over the phone and didnt get an email confirmation.
we arrived, the guy on reception was friendly and when i asked to use an iron, housekeeping instead ironed it for me! brilliant.
bed was comfortable, nice plump pillows and a fair size television.
cold tap on the bathroom sink didnt turn on and the room was a little shabby, needs a lick of paint and the cracks filled in.
breakfast was lovely and the resturant was nicely decorated.
came to check out and was told that the room was £90!
when i bought up that i had been twice told it would be £75, the receptionist told me that has happened a few times!!! i was too tired to argue and had to leave to be on time for our next destination.
my advice would be to get an email/postal confirmation of the price.
the room was in no way worth £90.

I stayed in this quaint hotel while in the area on work. On my entrance I was greeted by a very polite young man who helped me to my room.
The room was a bit shabby, the light flicked on and off and it didnt look overly clean. The evenng meal however was beautiful! wonderful menu and the service from the bar and resturant staff was second to none. However I did feel the owners of the hotel were very miserable and didn't seem to speak to there staff very well!
I would come here again for a meal but definatley not too stay. It was way over priced!
