Description: The Lamb Inn is a friendly country pub in the heart of Marlborough Wiltshire We also offer accommodation in the form of bed and breakfast. We have seven rooms available including twin, double and a family room, all with en-suits. There is a lunch menu available everyday of the week from 12.30pm to 14.30pm, which is changed on a regular basis depending on what is in season at the time. Sunday lunch usually consists of three different meats. All of the meat served is sourced from local butchers from local farms. We also offer vegetarian options, and children's meals. Dinner service runs from Monday to Thursday from 6.30pm to 9pm. There is a courtyard at the back of the pub to relax and enjoy the sunshine, plus a stable room for small functions or meetings. The Lamb Inn is a dog friendly pub, mans best friend will always be made welcome with treats and a bowl of water.

Having grown up in Marlborough, it was nice to visit one of my old haunts recently for a meal with my wife, father-in-law, Alan, and his partner, Jean. The Lamb Inn is a pleasant locals pub just off the main High Street and I used to eat and drink there nearly 30 years ago. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the same landlord Viv was still around serving food and drink.

As it was Sunday lunchtime we all had a Sunday Roast. Three of us had meat whilst Jean opted for the Nut Roast. Although she isn't a vegetarian, she fancied a change. Alan is a fan of real ale and I partly chose the pub because the beer is poured straight from the wooden barrels. Unfortunately Alan felt his first pint was cloudy but Viv changed it immediately without fuss when this was pointed out. After a short wait our meals arrived and we were all pleased by the large portions of food. The most noticable thing was the amazing variety of vegetables on each plate - there must have been 10 or more different veggies each. The food was hot and the beef was nicely cooked. Jean wasn't so keen on her Nut Roast but this is really a question of taste rather than there being anything wrong.

The pub was busy with both other diners and a few locals (some I recognised after all these years) and it was nice to see Viv coming over to ask if we were enjoying our meals with a smile.

All in all, this was a very nice visit to an old favourite and it didn't disappoint.
