Went over to The Bell, this lunchtime, whilst working from home. We all 3 chose the burger, it didn't disappoint, well seasoned meat and a lively tangy sauce & proper fries. Managed to squeeze in a treacle tart with raisin and orange - yummy :) Swift service which is what you need at this time if day without feeling you are being hurried.

We have been to The Bell in a lunchtime a few times and really enjoyed the food so decided to give the main restaurant a go in the evening. When we arrived we had a lovely welcome from all the staff and the place was buzzing with locals and visitors. Great choice of food. Starters were just amazing and expertly presented. I had the treacle cured salmon - see photo - which does it no justice as far as taste and texture were concerned - it was exquisite. The main choice was just as interesting and varied with a wonderful risotto and good standard fish & chips both presented beautifully. Puds as you might expect were again superb - palate all finished off with a coffee and a Cointreau. All the staff were attentive but not overpowering and bid us goodnight when we left.

We had a good dinner here the night before we were to start the Ridgeway Walk. There was a steak special on that night and most of the 6 of us had that and enjoyed it. There was a good selection of wine and beer.

My wife and I go here when we want to treat ourselves. We haven't been let down yet. Hannah and Andrew are a brilliant team and the staff are on the ball, helpful and help to make for a very pleasant meal. We always use the 'pub' part of the Bell to eat in but this is purely our preference. If the weather is good, try eating al fresco, that's an option too.
