We took the 30 minute drive out here after viewing their menu online, and we found out it was steak night.

Fantastic meals for 3 people. Steaks all round, great starters, and puddings that were out of this world. The wine and beer was fantastic too.

Worked our around £40 per head, but was definitely worth it for the courses we had. Lovely interior too.

We are regular visitors to this pub, both for coffee, lunch, evening meals and Sunday lunches. One word: fabulous! The choice of food is always great, homemade and well prepared. The coffee is great and there is a good range of beers and wines. The staff are simply excellent, an asset to the business. It is not a regular cheap pub that serves food so don't expect that - you pay for what you get and that is restaurant quality food, a lovely atmosphere and great service. It manages to keep the pub feel while providing an experience that is far above your average watering hole. It's location is great if you are visiting Avebury, the White Horses, the West Kennet Long Barrow, Silbury Hill or the Ridgeway. We are lucky to live nearby to this great place!

We called in early on a Thursday as they offer 2 steaks plus wine for £30, however the steaks on offer are only 8oz, they also offer other steak options that you pay extra for we opted for rib eye these arrived with a bowl of mcDonald style chips, the steak we think had also been cooked in some sort of soy sauce and not to our taste at all also some veg would not have gone a miss, the wine arrived in a half carafe! We did think the deal would have been a bottle. We eat out regularly and found the welcome very poor from a non smiling waitress, the rib eye also cost £20 each!! We have had far better in other local restaurants and at a more realistic price, we will not return as we feel the offer is not as it seems and the service and food could be much better.

Went here for a celebration meal and was very pleased with our first visit to this pub/restaurant.
It was a Friday evening, early and there were families there enjoying each others company alongside couples and small groups of people having meals. It was a cold wet night so the open fire was very welcome. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food was top rate. The surroundings were tastefully decorated.

I totally disagree with a reviewer from north of the border. We have eaten here three times in the last few months and on each occasion the experience has been excellent. The service is committed and friendly and does full justice to the food which is imaginative, beautifully presented and very tasty. And it comes at a reasonable price, given the quality. We went recently as four friends, had an array of dishes and all thought that each one was both well cooked and well presented. I would highly recommend the smoked haddock, artichoke and potato soup, a delicious and unusual combination. Other most pleasing dishes were the innovative black pudding with pickled quail's egg and lentils, crab fritters, vanilla cheesecake mousse with rhubarb and gingerbread and a deliciously light treacle tart. We shall return!!
