Description: Silks On The Downs is best described as a friendly & homely ' Gastro Pub '. Our menus change regularly and we source locally from the fantastic produce available around us. We are located in Ogbourne St Andrew, one mile outside the beautiful market town of Marlborough. Adorning our walls are framed silks of leading racehorse owners as worn by the jockeys, reflecting Wiltshire's rich racing heritage, as well as giving the pub its name. We are open daily for lunch and dinner (closed on a Sunday evening).

Very well presented interior, good beers and excellent food. Interesting and varied dishes amongst the more traditional, we had Moroccan lamb, chicken supreme and fish and chips - all very good. Highly recommended

I met a friend for Sunday lunch - we had previously visited for the first time last year with a group of friends, again for Sunday lunch. This visit was equally as good as our first visit.

When we visited last year they had some sharing platters and we had one of each to share amongst our party of 8. I was pleased to see that they still had those on the 'special board' but this time, as there were only 2 of us, we had the crayfish arancini and soup to start followed by roast chicken. They were very good at accommodating my request for Yorkshire pudding - you can't have a Sunday roast without one in my humble opinion. The roast chicken came with roast parsnips and probably the best roast potatoes I've had (apart from those you make yourself) - they were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. A nice dish of vegetables was brought to the table and there was a good selection - carrots, cabbage (which was nice and green and not boiled to within an inch of its life!), broccoli, peas and red cabbage. By the time we had finished our roast chicken the down side was that we were too full for the very nice sounding puddings

I have often passed this pub over the years when I travelling to and from Cirencester to Dorchester but have never stopped. In future I wouldn't hesitate to stop as it has a very welcoming atmosphere and the staff were cheerful

A lovely choice of menu. The roast beef and chicken were cooked in the most fragrant spices which left a delicious taste in the mouth for hours.

Good surprising quality food. Great service. And finally a modern establishment after all the pub violence.

Found this great place by accident but what a great accident it was ..

The gastro pub is deceptively large inside with a well decorated interior and a choice of real ales at the extensive bar.
My Daughter and I decided to order the steak and the chef made a Dian sauce from scratch to complement my daughters steak...no boil in the bag here...

The meal arrived which was presented to us by a very professional and friendly waiter and what a meal it was ...Fantastic and goes to show we can do it well in this country.
Front of house was a fantastic lady called Carol (spelt the Christmas way) who was extremity professional and attentive to the running of the establishment and also very friendly at the same time.

Overall I can sum this experience up with a few words..Great food , Great staff and a Great experience.

Would I go there again ...you bet I would
