“Windy!”

Roundway Down Iron Age Hill Fort
Reviewed May 13, 2018

Bring a coat because its windy, it doesn't matter what time of year - its windy!

I've been coming here since a young child with great memories. Now my own child is building memories here too.

This was the first walk we took our beloved family pet and sadly the place we led her to rest scattering her ashes here earlier on this year in the 3ft of snow

I walked up to Roundswell Hill as I have read about the battle and the Parliamentarians fleeing and falling over the edge where 600 died. Imagine my confusion when reading the information board at the top to be told it was the Royalists that fell!!! How on earth can they get that so wrong?

Well worth the struggle to find our way up here . Great views, great feeling of space and fresh air and peace and quite. Informative notice boards

Roundway down is best approached from below walking up between the strange furrowed Hillside. It is less well known than nearby Westbury white horse but no less fascinating for its sense of History.a great place for a country walk with the dog or a summer picnic

After calling at Reeves Bakery in Devizes, we enjoyed a brisk walk with our collie then a peaceful picnic in our motor home with wonderful views. Will return in the spring.
