We have just returned from our fourth visit so far this year and this visit excelled and we wonder how it can get any better. Well done for taking on board some of the unnecessary gripes that some guests have made - no more butter in those plastic packets or jam too ! Lovely mini jars of preserves and butter in pats! served under china dishes at breakfast, new soaps and bath gels from a reputable source in all rooms and more options regarding fresh fruit too at breakfast.
Thank you for upgrading us at no extra cost and for treating us once again like family.
The food in the restaurant was superb, enhanced by some innovative ' specials', we look forward to sampling your winter menu when we return in November. You can only go from strength to strength.

Room Tip: Try to get on the mailing list or email ,you will probably get a generous deal, all rooms are fine e...

Lots written about the hotel being child friendly, but did not find it especially so. Family room above kitchen with deliveries from 6am. Child being woken at this time is unlikely to go back to sleep.
Main problem was attitude of one member of staff who was very curt, unfriendly and offhand. Maybe she doesn't like children, but her behaviour spoilt our time there as other staff were pleasant.

Room Tip: Not room 10

I stayed here with a group of friends for a short pre-paid walking break. We were made very welcome with complimentary tea and cake, the service throughout was unobtrusive but excellent, especially at breakfast, and I wanted to stay long enough to eat my way through the dinner menu. All the food was delicious. Compared to previous experience at Great Western Hotels this was fantastic (and the first review I've done on tripadvisor).

And it's in a lovely spot.

Room Tip: Some rooms have slopes as they are in the attic but mine was still spacious and I'm 5' 10&qu...

After a long day at a client, we booked in at around 7pm and were notified that an earlier breakfast could not be arranged (7am) but rather that we were welcome to come down earlier and start breakfast as it was set up for other guests. We accepted this and went to our rooms to get some work done and sleep before the early start. We were welcomed by a flood light from the garden which was pointed directly into the room, and cold water in the shower. On complaint about the water, keys for another room were given so that we could use that shower. The water was cold there too. Apparently it was cold in the whole hotel, this we heard from other guests. They were not willing to try help or fix this problem. In the morning, we sat down for breakfast, early, and were informed by the lovely lady doing breakfast that next time we should request an early breakfast and they would be happy to accommodate (a different story to before). She then saved the horrible morning, and made amazing bacon sandwiches to go in a couple of minutes. It is a shame she works with less accommodating staff and a hotel with no hot water. This is by no means a cheap alternative in the area of Malmesbury, and we moved our business elsewhere to an amazing little place for the same price with consistently good staff.

Room Tip: Be more pushy with staff to get the things you'd expect at a hotel apparently because polite doe...

Please note :

There was a failure of an electrrical switch in the heating system, the 1st evidence of which was reported by to us that afternoon - an engineer was in immediately , replaced switch and hot water was available again that evening - we did apologise profusely for the inconvenience , gave complimentary drinks and reduced tariffs for those concerned.

I'm sorry we could n't fulfill the request for breakfast earlier than when we open in the morning (7am).
I am very glad to hear we were able to make bacon sandwiches to go and the Girls looked after you well.

Do not pick the Best rooms in this hotel which are in the courtyard. We stayed in room 29. Above us were a herd of elephants who loved to walk, or should I say thump, up and down till 2am every night. Their tv was on so loud we could tell what program they were watching by turning the sound off on our tv. It was also on till 2am. Did have to complain to manager after 3 nights of little sleep and they did address it. But also having the laundry room dryer switched on every morning nextdoor to us which vibrated and rumbled so loudly it was shaking the sink in the bathroom, also having the kitchens just a few feet away from our window with the staff turning the radio on so loudly and hearing it on loudly every morning you can guess what a GREAT time we had. NOT. To top it all at the end of our stay two dogs arrived nextdoor which were left barking whilst their owners went off for breakfast. Could not get home quick enough. Pity about all this noise because the hotel is lovely, staff friendly, and food very good. More should be done about this noise issue as these were supposedly the dearest rooms but the worst outcome for guests.

Room Tip: do not pick the courtyard rooms stay in the hotel and ask if anyone has any dogs next to your room.

This was our first stay in a hotel with our dog and we were all made to feel very welcome. A table was reserved for us in the bar for breakfast and dinner so that we could all be together! Breakfast was delicious and dinner great, however we were not told there was a bar menu that would have suited us better. Room well kitted out and comfy bed. Will definitely return.
