Had a 2night start on a voucher deal. Very enjoyable meal, friendly staff and pleasant room, though looks like they're in the process of updating. Our room was a little tired - noisy extractor fan, creaky bed but nothing that couldn't sorted. Would be happy to stay here again, maybe in one of the superior rooms.

Having not read any reviews on this hotel before I went, I was most surprised to read them before submitting my review. I thought I must have stayed at a different hotel. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff cheerful and pleasant. We were told when being shown to our room that we had been given a complimentary upgrade. Unfortunately the standard double bed had seen better days and the mattress sagging and uncomfortable. The room itself was badly in need of refurbishment as it was very outdated, this included the en suite bathroom. Although the bath towels were a decent size, the handle in the bath made having a shower awkard. The entire decor was mismatched and depressing and not a room which we felt we wanted to spend any more time in than was necessary. We didn't have an evening meal in the hotel but breakfast was at best average. I don't consider myself to be parrticularly fussy and find it strange that my review is so contrasting to others. Another reviewer mentioned a king size bed and wetroom - maybe the hotel is in a refurbishment process and they hadn't made it to room 3 yet.

I stayed here in October with my mum. We were going to Highgrove for one of the garden tours, and Mayfield House was a perfect base. The staff were friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. The food was good, imaginative menu, really lovely desserts. My room, one of the 'best', was large and comfortable. On the whole, an enjoyable stay.

We stayed on the 3rd/4th nov on a wowcher deal, when we arrived we were given an upgrade as it was my wifes birthday, the room was fantastic with a huge kingsize bed and wet room and spotlesly clean, we had dinner on the first night which was excellent as were the breakfasts (well done chef) , theres not much to do where the hotel is situated, malmesbury is about 3 miles but we went to relax so it was ok,the staff were all so very helpful and friendly it was a pleasure to stay there.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 29 which was in an annex of four it was perfect

I stayed overnight with my dog as the main aim of the visit was to go to Westonbirt Arboretum.
The double room was large and lovely and warm on a cold and wet October day. The evening meal was outstanding. I totally endorse comments made by other reviewers that the staff are extremely professional.
My dog was welcome in the bedroom, lounge and bar area. The restaurant is obviously a dog-free zone.
This is a great hotel, with superior food and service in comparison to what is usually experienced in so-called more up market south coast resorts.
This was my first visit but my elderly parents have now returned four times.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms facing the road have a great view over the water meadow. Road noise is not an issue.

We stayed for one night after spending the day at the Westonbirt National Arboretum. Our room was a standard twin and it was friendly, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is near a main road which is not busy, and we slept well. The beds and the bedding were excellent. Low beams and a sloping ceiling added character to our room, but we had to mind our heads when getting in and out of bed. The central heating went off in the evening, but staff promptly provided an efficient electric heater. Breakfast was good and dinner was outstanding. The lounges were attractive with large armchairs and morning papers. Staff were friendly and obliging. The bed/breakfast/dinner package was excellent value. We would not hesitate to book this hotel again.

We have just returned from our fifth visit. Once again we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The staff are all so friendly and efficient and you are made to feel so welcome on arrival and during all of the stay. Super breakfasts and dinners. We will be returning again in the near future.

Room Tip: Room 1 is comfortable and sunny and very quiet. Room 4 is also very good and overlooks the garden.
