It really is difficult to put into words how wonderful our experience at the Garden Lodge was. Julie, our host, is the most beautiful lady, for whom nothing is too much trouble and has a wealth of knowledge about the surrounds. The property is immaculate and the amenities are plentiful. A great surprise was that the breakfast hamper, filled with bread, milk, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, croissants and butter, is replenished daily and there is a cupboard full of other food as well. Julie’s home is close by, but the property is so quiet and private you wouldn’t know it. There are several walking tracks around the property and Julie’s directions to the village were excellent, a nice 15 minutes walk through the woods and neighboring golf course to the picturesque Castle Combe village. We could not have asked for a better location for the holiday we were on.
We cannot praise Julie enough and highly recommend a stay at the Garden Lodge if you are in the area. We know this will be the first place we book if we return to the UK.
This is one of those places that, to be honest, you'd rather keep a secret, only for yourself to enjoy, but that would be more than selfish and very unfair to Julie, the person who turns the already great Garden Cottage into a piece of holiday heaven. Julie is always ready to help you in any way she can, be it by providing directions to beautiful Castle Combe or filling the cupboard with all the goodies you need for your first breakfast … and then some!
The Garden Cottage itself is very bright, very clean and equipped with all the creature comforts a holidaymaker may need. It's very peaceful and surrounded by meadows and woods. You also have a nice patio and your own little garden, great to have a drink in the evening or just relax. It's also the place where you can start your walk into Castle Combe without having to cross or use a single road, which is a great advantage as it can be rather busy. If you like visiting gardens and great houses, as we do, you are in for a treat, because there are many beautiful examples at a short distance from the cottage.
We had a lovely holiday and most definitely will try to go back next year as it is one of those places you would like to stay much, much longer, but you do not have to take my word for it, go and have a look for yourself.
An outstanding location for a stay in the Cotswolds. Julie is the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble. She also supplied some beautiful food for our breakfast. The lodge has its own woods to walk in perfect for our dogs and a short walk to the stunning village of Castle coombe. If your a walker or runner there are some lovely pathways stretching in all directions. Bath is only 16 miles away. A great break away from it all. Thank you Julie.
My hubby and 2 grown up children spent 5 days/4 nights at the Garden Lodge over Christmas, we had a wonderful time, the lodge is clean and tidy, with all the utilities you could need, inc a fab DVD library. Full cooker and fridge, I cooked the whole Christmas and Boxing day lunches whilst there. We walked through the golf course to Castle Coombe which was wonderful, the farm shop just up the road is great. But the best part about this trip was Julie and Charlie the owners they could not have made us feel more welcome, they were so friendly even inviting us to a local event on Boxing day which we attended with them, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I stayed at Garden Lodge with my seven-year-old son and my seventy-year-old mother and it worked well for all of us.
Our hosts went out of there way to ensure we enjoyed our visit, even taking my son out with them when they walked their wonderfully friendly dog.
The property had everything we needed, including films to suit the whole family (although my son might never forgive Grandma for recommending Marley & Me!)
Lovely relaxing place to stay and very comfortable. The host Julie is the nicest person you could wish to meet, nothing too much trouble for her and her dog Cleme was a joy.
When you arrive there is every thing you could wish for including milk, bread, butter, croissants and jam The surrounding area has some very pretty villages to explore and for us, perfect weather. All in all a great holiday.

Julie was an exceptionally gracious host. She saw to our needs and made sure we were comfortable right from the start. We arrived late evening to a kitchen stocked with first day provisions, a welcome treat after a long journey. Super friendly and saw to it that we had all that we needed. Kids were impressed with the ample DVD collection. But most our time was occupied with easy day trips to Stonehenge, Oxford, Lacock and other idyllic locations. Peaceful, beautiful and relaxing, we recommend Keeper's Cottage enthusiastically!
