“Don't bother - the look disguises shocking food!”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

My wife and I popped in for lunch only to have to sit and listen to Lady In Red drinking cloudy ale and eating very sub standard food. Fish and chips - over cooked fish, undercooked chips and a dry salad of onion, pepper and lettuce! Club sandwhich was dry and had undercooked fatty bacon in it with hardly any mayo. When I complained they had no answer and offered no compensation. Don't go here and tell the world not to bother either!

We would recommend this hotel to everyone. Hotel itself is beautiful and very clean. Food was fantastic and staff couldn't do enough for us. I am very fussy eater and they adapt my food with no problems and with smile on their face. Me and my partner both work for in hotel industry and we couldn't find fault. Keep up your great work, we will be back.

We went to Castle Combe, which is a wonderful little village which takes you strait back to the past, they actually made the film War-Horse here, which was a great hit in Cinemas recently, in 2012. The village needs to be seen to be believed, do go if you are in this part of Wilts. If you are staying in Bath it is just about 40 minutes in a car away. It has a beautiful little Church which is open and well worth a viewing. The little Hotel is very welcoming, we went in for a bar meal and were very well looked after. The food was very good and the prices were very fair. as mentioned if you are in this part of the world, then put this village and Hotel on your list,. Paul and Joan Bennett.

Room Tip: The whole village is beautiful

We had a lovely lunch on a chilly day. It was light but filled the hungry gap. We had a very delicious club sandwich, don't find them often in a pub. Was reasonably priced, well presented, served by a charming waiter. The loos were clean and very nice. Great lunch stop. I'm sure it would be a lovely place for an evening meal and a lovely hotel.
What a pretty little village.

We have had lunch several times at the Castle this year. The standard never varies and is excellent.
The service is faultless by mainly Romanian staff who speak very good English. They are a credit to the establishment.
The food is of a similar quality, with ample varied choice and at a very reasonable price-especially for this showpiece village.
This lovely old Inn is in an idyllic setting and tastfully furnished with some lovely fireplaces. The ambience is superb
Overall an experience not to be missed.

Spent 4 nights in Castle Combe last week and frequented the Castle Inn often for drinks during the day and night. It is a delightful building set in a beautiful village and it offers a warm atmosphere and customers were made to feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this as a bar or restaraunt and I am sure it would be a lovely place to stay also.
