We stayed at the Castle Inn Hotel for 2 nights, 27th and 28th Jan. The Inn/Hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard. It is located in a beautiful village on the edge of the Cotswolds. The staff were excellent and made us most welcome. The attention to detail in the rooms was first class. Food served in either bar area with lots of atmosphere and appeared to be used by locals also (which is a good sign) or in very comfortable restaurant.
Castle Coombe is a 'picture postcard 12th century English village which has retained all of its old world charm. Recently used as location for Warhorse.

Would have no hesitation is booking again for those who enjoy quieter and smaller Inns/Hotels in a fabulous location.

We had a very specific idea of what we were after when we booked this hotel, and it met our expectations in pretty much every way! We wanted to explore the pretty village of Castle Combe, to be in easy reach of Bath, and to stay somewhere historic, traditional and comfortable. The Castle Combe Inn turned out to be a wonderful place to spend the weekend.

Situated at the bottom of a steep hill, Castle Combe is so perfectly pretty that it's almost unreal. We had a little trouble finding it, driving through Upper Castle Combe and missing the turning down to Lower C.C. the first time. We parked on the hill, where there were plenty of spaces, and toddled down to the inn. The room was scrupulously clean, tastefully furnished (lovely crisp bedding, painted wooden chest of drawers, sparkling bathroom, flat-screen wall-mounted TV) and looked down into the centre of the village (room 3). The bed was incredibly high, and once you'd clambered into place you felt like a queen!

We stayed for two nights and had breakfast in the Inn both mornings. There was a good selection of cereals, with dried fruits and yoghurts. The first morning we both went for the fried breakfast, which yielded the only negative moment of the stay - for some reason, the flavour of the particularly meaty sausage really disagreed with both of us (possibly liver in it? Not sure but couldn't really place the flavour). Other than this, the breakfast was good. The second morning we went for the smoked salmon with eggs, which was simply divine. Poached eggs were expertly done, and scrambled eggs were lovely and creamy, with proper black pepper on the tables.

We ate at the pub across the road (friendly, nice atmosphere) the first night, and for Sunday lunch ate at the Castle Inn itself, It was very popular, with people filling up on the outside tables despite the chilly weather, and the food was good. The staff at the Inn were universally superb, from the bar staff to the waiters to the lady on reception. Their kind, friendly attitude and helpfulness really contributed to how nice our stay was, from giving advice on the area to even producing a candle to stick in a scone when I ordered a cream tea on my birthday (and yes, there was a sung rendition of 'Happy Birthday'!). Nothing was too much trouble for them, and we would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

I had visited Castle Combe on a day trip many years ago and always wanted to come back to stay. I was not disappointed This is an amazing village, a hidden gem in Wiltshire even though a little hard to find! This Hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in. The price was very reasonable considering the standard of the Hotel. Our welcome was warm & friendly & thoroughly professional. The room although had a view out over the rear roof area was still exceptional, with beautiful fittings and exposed oak beams. The bathroom was enormous with bath, rain shower and even two lovely white bath robes. We dined in the restaurant the first night and over the road at the only other pub the second night to share the custom around and both meals were great. Breakfast was served in the conservatory by an exceptionally attentive gentleman each morning and the poached eggs were cooked to a standard you would expect in any 5*restaurant. There was one minor thing, the mattress was very soft on the edges and a little uncomfortable. We spoke to the Manager on departure about this and he promised to check it out. He was very pleasant about this and took it as it was intended as constructive criticism. Thank you for a wonderful two nights in one of the most beautiful villages in the UK. We will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Street as this is a very quiet village. Visit in autumn when the sum...

My wife and I stayed here for two nights as part of our honeymoon.
Our room was excellent and very clean and comfortable
We ate in their restaurant on both nights and the food was very good and the wines were reasonably priced.
The staff were extremely friendly and efficient and the one thing that swayed our decision to stay at The Castle in the first instance over other hotels was the incredibly efficient responses to out enquiries from the receptionists.
The only downside is the lack of car parking in the village. We were lucky on the first night but on the second had to park a fair distance from the hotel. They do have an agreement with the next door hotel who will allow you to park overnight for £5.00. In the height of the summer season I can imagine the parking shortage really does become a bit of an issue.
A very enjoyable stay and highly recommended.

Room Tip: Always ask for an upgrade if available.

The hotel is actually in the middle of the village of Castle Combe. They have a pub and a modern restaurant. The room was not big but very pretty. It also has a big beam style, modern bathroom. This place made me feel like I am in a fairy tale. The food was lovely too.

I booked a 3 night stay as a birthday treat for my husband and what a treat it was, On arrival the staff were extremely polite and helpful and this continued throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was beautifully furnished and immaculately clean, cosy too. We ate in the restaurant every evening and the food was superb, excellent menu, the staff were attentive and courteous, breakfast was a delight, Continental and Full English, best poached eggs ever!!

Such a pretty village to walk around we had a wonderful time and could not recommend the Castle Inn highly enough.

Booked a table for an early family Christmas Lunch. Parking spaces are sparse in this village and must be a drama to find in Summer. We managed to pick up a nearbyGeocache before we went in to a lovely roaring fire in a very atmospheric dining room. The Roast was very good, the vegetables were a little plain and there was not any parsnip which miffed the WIfe but overall a memorable meal served by immaculately dressed and attentive Staff.
Would thoroughly recomend having a meal at this scenic location. Happy Christmas!
