It was our first visit to the UK, we stayed at an ultra modern Hotel in Westminster, we were so happy when we arrived at the Manor House Hotel in Castle Combe. Loved the Architecture, the staff was very attentive and friendly.Every room was furnished luxuriously. Our bathroom had heated floors ,a claw foot tub and a modern shower. The village just outside the hotel was picture perfect with an old church and shops. Old world charm at it's best.

What an amazingly beautiful place, set in the heart of a picture book village, I felt as if I was in a period drama. The room we had which was in a converted stables on a 17th century street was just wonderful, we didnt want to leave. The staff at the Manor were wonderful, their customer service is exceptional and they make sure you are well looked after, they can't do enough for you. If you come across John the garden supervisor dont miss the opportunity of being shown around the grounds, his enthusiasm for his work is overwhelming, you will want a job there yourself!
We ate at the Bybrook Restaurant which was exceptional and I would highly recommend the 7 course taster menu, a full on explosion of the senses. Definitely the best food I have ever eaten. Thank you Richard (after seeing him on the telly I think I know him) :-)
If you are thinking of going, don't think about it-just go

Stayed on a golfbreak and overall very pleased. We stayed in Little Tizzlehead (all rooms have eccentric legends), which is at the top of the main house and incorporated a lounge area, bathroom (both shower and bath; his and hers sinks) and large super kingsize bed. Nespresso coffee machine, full teamaking, three TVs and video player (library available). Very comfortable.

Three course à la carte dinner was included and was very well served and presented, with various amuse bouches in between courses. Wine list was extensive, but individual glasses also available.

At breakfast a huge, high quality cold buffet was supplemented by hot food and excellent coffee.

The front staff were very friendly, efficient and willing, including valet parking.

The hotel is full of character, comfortable sitting rooms and beautiful grounds/gardens. Wifi (free) was pretty good in our area of the hotel.

The only downside was a £21 charge for two gin and tonics which, although huge, were really not what was required.

Golfwise the course and facilities were excellent. Very testing - unfortunately however our golf was not really up to it! Buggies are available and, unless you're extremely fit, I would recommend strongly that one is used due to steep climbs and lengthy treks between holes?

We attended the Manor House for a wedding where the Bride and Groom had booked out the whole hotel from 2 p.m. on the Sunday to 11.30 a.m. on the Monday. It was great being able to speak with anyone at any time and introduce oneselves knowing that they were also members of the wedding party.

Everything went absolutely to plan and the whole experience was wonderful. The Wedding Service was beautiful - as, of course, was the Bride - with great readings. The Wedding Breakfast couldn't be faulted and was accompanied by various suitable red/white/dessert wines.

After the meal there was dancing to a live band that all age groups joined in with (from 3 years to 84 years!). There was also a Photo Booth which provided great fun.

A buffet later in the evening was devoured with enthusiasm (albeit not by me as I was still quite stuffed from the main meal - as I suspect most people were really!!).

Everyone seemed very happy with their overnight accommodation - we certainly were, our suite had study and sitting areas and a wonderful 4-poster-bed; all very grand and all very comfortable.

Breakfast next morning was as full and varied as one could possible wish for, with hot and cold choices.

Without exception everyone said that they had had the most wonderful wedding experience and that everything was absolute perfection. Even the weather was fantastic and we were able to have photographs and champagne on the lawns - the forecast had been for rain but we didn't see a drop, just loads and loads of sunshine.

To anyone planning a wedding then this is the absolute ideal location - very highly recommended.

Also, can recommend (as a guest or a day-visitor) the Afternoon Tea. £24 per person and an absolutely wonderful array of sandwiches, cakes, scones etc and choice of teas. A lovely way to while away a few hours either in one of the splendid lounges or, in fine weather, out on the lawns.

ENGLAND AT ITS VERY BEST !!!

Room Tip: Our suite was named Lords Mere and was very comfortable and had lovely views. The ensuite bathr...

We stayed overnight at The Manor House Hotel in the Sidelands cottage room. On arrival we were slightly concerned at the amount of wedding party guests at the hotel and the possible impact this could have on our quiet weekend away. We did not need to be concerned as the service in the bar and restaurant was 1st class, the room in style and cleanliness was excellent and the quirky cave like bathroom was an interesting touch. The gin selection in the bar and the way it was served (the glass resembles a goldfish bowl) was great but it would need more than a night away to sample them all. We had reserved a table for dinner with the tasting menu and the quality of the food was amazing. Thank you to Marco for looking after us and explaining each dish served. We hope to return for another weekend break to this hotel very soon.

We have stayed in many hotels but the Manor House at Castle Combe has to be one of our favourites. From the time you arrive to your departure you are made to feel very much at home, the staff are friendly and super-efficient and the hotel and surroundings superb. We stayed in the Plantation room in the main building and it was lovely with old beams and rustic antique fittings with a huge bath.Tea and coffee, WIFI and good TV reception. We ate in the golf club which was very nice, but next time will use the Bybrook resaurant where we had breakfast, as much nicer. The village of Castle Combe is idyllic and unspoilt as is the hotel.
The golf was excellent and the course is challenging, but fair if you play well.
