“A very special place - highly recommended”

I had high hopes of this hotel as I have been wanting to stay there for years and I finally got around to it this weekend. I was not disappointed, it was amazing and everything you could wish for a romantic break in the countryside. The staff were warm and friendly, the rooms are gorgeous with the most comfortable big bed, very romantic, classy and beautifully designed. Everything was immaculately clean with a stunning bathroom with lots of huge fluffy towels! The canapés in the bar were fantastic before going through to dinner. Dinner in the Bybrook was special, we had the tasting menu and we are still talking about it. Beautifully cooked and presented, absolutely delicious food, every dish was a true delight. We chose the dessert from Great British menu, it looked so pretty and was just yummy, I even licked Lenny Henry's face it was so good! Make sure you walk around the grounds, there are so many hidden little areas to explore. We loved this place and we will be back.

Spent 3 nights at the Manor and from the moment I arrived I was impressed with the service and the beautiful surroundings. I stayed in a junior suite which was excellently presented with all your requirements to hand, docking station/dvd, excellent coffee maker etc....
The restuarent served some of the best dining I have exprienced, will definately be going back sometime soon for a relaxing break in a beautiful location.

We have stayed at the manor overnight a couple of times now, but have been many times for meals and wine evenings.
The hotel always has a wonderful atmosphere about it. Polite and attentive staff always on hand assist. The food in the restaurant whether it be on a Sunday lunchtime, tasting menu or their New Year gala menu is consistently delicious and always of a superb standard, with the somellier also providing a great service and expertise.
The rooms have a lovely charm about them, the junior suite we stayed in was enormous. The rooms are clean and well appointed.
The setting of the hotel is perfect and there are always wellies on hand by door to go exploring. Have stayed at their sister hotel penny hill park and it isn't a patch on this even with the manor not having a spa.
Will always return and look forward to our next visit.

Not a cheap place to stay but this sort of quality always comes at price. We enjoyed the log fire, the beautifully presented and tasting food, the try hard service etc. We did not enjoy much not staying in the main house but presume there was a reason, nor having to ask for glasses and dishes to be provided on the breakfast buffet table which understandably had run out, but no one had noticed! Service closed at 10.30am but by 9.45am there seemed a reluctance to restock for any late comers. We had to ask for black pepper rather than being offered this. There were just a few areas where they were short of the perfection one would hope this sort of place aspires to. It is a stunning house in a beautiful position. We were allowed an hour for a late check out which we like.

We recommend a stay here which you will undoubtedly enjoy but for an excellent rating we would need a few of the "would not have expected that here" stuff to be resolved, managed and eradicated. Someone needs a closer overview for this to happen, then very good could have been absolutely great.

That's what our cabbie said when asking us if we had been there before. And boy was he right! A great estate in the middle of the English country side, a true "manor". We went there for a wedding and we had a wonderful time. The grounds are very pretty and kept spotless. The room we were assigned was very comfortable, maybe not so easy to get in, as the stairs were really steep, forcing us to keep our drinks at bay! The bathroom was functional and with a guest! a rubber duck! I don't know if I would have ever been to this hotel had it not been for the wedding, but for those who like the countryside in a luxurious manner, this is the place for you. And not too far off from London, an hour away via the fast train.

Set in a landscaped park just on the edge of Castle Combe village, the hotel dates back to the 14th century (although some bits have been added later) and oozes character with its chimney stacks and columns. Inside, there are nooks and crannies with little seating areas of sofas and armchairs in front of open fire places which are perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea or a book. The rooms, some which are in a row of cottages just outside the main building, retain the antique character but with added contemporary features such as flat screen high definition TVs and waterfall showers. Service is fairly formal but friendly and attentive. The michelin-star Bybrook restaurant serves excellent food. The setting of the hotel is beautiful and Castle Combe village is just a short walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will certainly be back.

The Manor House has now become a regular place for us to stay - whenever we need a break or a change of scene, then we head here. Far away from main roads and incredibly private, the hotel is set in beautiful grounds. The staff are warm and welcoming and provide an excellent service. The food is delicious and the selection of foods on offer at breakfast time is wonderful. The chef and staff cater brilliantly for my gluten and dairy intolerance, and you're made to feel as though it's no trouble at all. There are some lovely walks to do near the hotel and it's great to come back and have a hot bath and a cocktail by the fire in the lounge. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and I can't wait for our next trip there.
