“Good pub grub”

Went here on the spur of the moment, 2 adults and 2 children. We ate in the bar area rather than the restaurant as we were too early to go in there (although the bar staff said we could if we wanted to).
Kids meal was really good, nice sausages and good size portion. I had scampi and chips, nothing amazing, but good pub grub. Friend had lamb shank, really tasty gravy was delicious. Only downfall was the veg with the lamb shank - only peas. Could have done with a bit more, maybe brocolli and carrots. Not the most amazing of places but would go back again as it is conveinient.
With regards to staff, bar lady was ok, came accross quite abrupt but was really helpful once we got talking.

if you intend to eat here don't eat breakfast!!!! the starters are more like main courses but very very nice, the mains were great too,
the only down side for me was it took 2 attempts at choosing a main to get one that wasn't sold out or not on. on the menu it said daily carvery which was why we chose to eat here but it wasn't on today in defence they did have a large party on.

Service without a smile. This is the place to take your Grand Parents as it pretty dated.

It's a really old, cosy (real fire in the hearth) pub and we were made very welcome.
