“Excellent Service by well trained attentive staff”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

The hotel is of course beautiful, well maintained , luxurious but not at all stuffy.
Welcomed with a cocktail as we checked in and delightful nibbles.
We had a beautiful room with a very comfortable Superking bed and it was very spacious - everything was perfect.
I have a severe nut allergy and was delighted with the little card on the hospitality tray informing us that all nuts had been removed from the room - never had that before!
It was my husbands birthday and a card was delivered to the room - a lovely surprise.
We were meeting friends at the Bluebell pub [ 3 minute walk] so we did not sample Dinner but we were very pleased with the breakfast and excellent attention and warmth shown to us by Babs. She is a treasure!
The other staff we came across were all well trained pleasant and gave excellent customer service - Chloe on check in and Sara on check out. we could not ask for more!
Well done Wentbridge House - you have recruited and trained lovely members of staff who deserve credit for the excellent service they provide!

6 years ago we got married at Wentbridge House; we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Regarding the wedding, everything met our very high expectations and in some areas, even exceeded them! Since our wedding we have returned to Wentbridge House every year to celebrate our anniversary and on every occasion we are very pleased to say that we have had a nothing less than perfect stay. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the bedrooms are delightful and every meal we have had has been absolutely divine. Every year reminds us why we chose to get married at Wentbridge House and every year we are not disappointed. The attention to detail and the welcoming feel is resounding. We cannot thank Wentbridge House enough for providing us with such fabulous memories which we will treasure forever and each year on our anniversary, will contribute to making new memories! We really look forward to our next special visit.

This is not your typical review. We only live a couple of miles from Wentbridge House Hotel but it is our regular treat. It's the only place we take visiting friends and family to, and for good reason. The service is outstanding. The best of any hotel I've stayed in, and I've stayed in hundreds!

The food is of a different class altogether. Not only is everything home cooked to perfection, but I've never managed to finish a three course meal thanks to the generous helpings ;-p

The photos don't do the grounds justice. It's my favourite place to be in the spring months. Simply beautiful! No wonder three relatives have married here, and it's where we are planning our wedding too!

The staff are always welcoming and it's position is just perfect. 5* from me everytime.

Stayed here for one night on 15th Feb, we arrived about 3.30pm and I think we got the last carparking space, as there was an event on (a wedding I think) so it was a bit busy.

Check in was easy and pleasant. This hotel appears to have spread out over time so is a bit higgledy piggledy, I think this just adds to the charm, but you might want to ask for a room near to reception if you have walking difficulties (or no sense of direction!).

Bottle of champagne & chocolates ready for us in the lovely large room (we'd upgraded to a junior suite). Although trying to operate the coffee machine was a bit too technical for me after ta couple of glasses of champagne, even the next morning it took ten minutes to work out how to switch it on!

We ate in the brassiere in the evening, the staff were attentive and happy to accommodate any requests, the restaurant had a set menu for Valentines (which is why we choose to eat in the brassiere) so they were busy. The food was lovely, well presented, not too much on the plate (hate to be given a massive plate full of food) and very tasty.

We both slept soundly, bed was comfy and the room wasn't too warm (although I did get up in the night to turn the aircon off as it was a bit noisy for my liking, the OH didn't even notice it though).

Breakfast was good, lovely staff again very attentive making sure you had enough tea and coffee (proper leaf tea in a pot too!) toast, butter etc. Lots of choice from porridge to full english, and the bacon and sausage was locally sourced and tasted really good.

Overall would recommend a break here, and we will be going back.

Yes its me again with yet another late review!!
We stayed here back in October for our 1st wedding anniversary. For some reason I didn't expect much as it was a last minute thing.
We had a room and meal package in the new wing of the hotel, the room was lovely and spacious with a bottle of wine on ice awaiting us.
The evening meal was exellent, 3 courses as always finishing with a cheese board!
Couldnt pick fault, the staff were very good and always happy to help. Would recommend.

Our overnight stay was a real mixed bag, ranging from fabulous crepe suzette to the worst cooked breakfast I've ever had.

So, the good stuff:
We had a lovely large room in the garden wing (59). Everything was very comfortable and we slept really well. It's far enough away from the main house to be quiet and undisturbed by any functions (more on that later).
The bathroom is spacious with lovely elemis toiletries and a great shower, robes are available to use during your stay and in summary the rooms in the wing are great.
We had a light lunch in the brasserie - wine and sandwiches which was fine and the service good. It was also good to note that the wedding party in the hotel for that night were restricted from the brasserie.

Dinner in the Fleur De Lys restaurant was good but needed more servers.
I started with the shellfish cocktail which had nice big pieces of lobster and shellfish and was really tasty. My main was the plaice fillet which again was good and well cooked and I finished my meal with the crepe suzette. The crepes are finished in butter, citrus and alcohol in the restaurant and were really delicious. Being the only drinker, I stuck to wine by the glass and there was a good selection on offer.

Our room rate (£320) included champagne in our room, chocolates, allowance towards dinner and an elemis gift which was lovely.

The not so good:
We arrived at the same time as a wedding party were having their welcome drinks and photos, standing all around reception and the entrance which made check in a challenge and we had to ask the receptionist to repeat herself a coupe of times.

It seemed that priority was given to wedding guests and non-resident diners. We booked out table for 2000 and finally got seated for dinner an 2100 - apparently reception booked a few too many in for dinner and they went in before us.

Not enough staff to run the bar, brasserie and restaurant on this busy Saturday night.

Cocktail bar that didn't serve cocktails?!!

There was a great continental selection for breakfast but my cooked Yorkshire breakfast was probably the worst I've had. On my plate was one sausage, one piece of bacon, 2 mushrooms and just enough beans to sit the poached egg on. The beans and bacon were dried out and the sausage seemed a bit undercooked. I did send the sausage back for further cooking and was also informed it was my error and that the sausage was pink due to the additives - who knew.

So, would I recommend a stay here? Yes, but not on a Saturday night.

Will, we be returning? No we won't. Our final bill was £370 for the night and there are better places to stay for this kind of budget.

Apparently the bluebell Inn down the road does some great pub food so this would also be a good option during a stay.

We stayed in a room in the old part of the hotel with a four poster bed and the biggest bathroom imaginable. Clean, comfortable and characterful. There was even music playing gently on a radio as we arrived! Don't be tempted by the snacks or wine as they are very expensive as are the bar prices.
Our breakfast was great with a wide variety of good food and served by a very helpful and friendly member of staff.
