“Another outstanding night out!”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Just returned from our New Year's Eve extravaganza at Wentbridge. What a fantastic experience. Everything went with military precision thanks to the excellent manageress and her staff. From checking in to checking out everything was just perfect, the food, the service, front of house, the attention to detail, the DJ, the trio, the room and of course Babs the waitress!

Loved the little fresh flower arrangement in the room and the chocolates plus the hand written greetings card.

This is the third time we have stayed and this time we brought friends who were equally impressed. We will certainly be back again!

Room Tip: We have stayed in a superior room and a suite. Both were fantastic, spacious, clean and with all fa...

We met up with our friends and had lunch with them in the Brasserie. We arrived early and enjoyed a coffee with biscuits whilst we were waiting for our friends to join us. On the next table was two senior ladies enjoying their lunch. The were eating fish and chips which looked fantastic and were highly recomended to the point that their comments convienced us to have the same. We were not disappointed in fact quite the opposite. Our three course lunches were fantastic and value for money.

I've visited the brasserie 3 times this year, twice with my wife & parents & once with a party of 14 to celebrate my parents' 50th Wedding anniversary. The food is relatively conservative (suiting my parents) but of good quality and well-executed and the service is generally good, with polite & attentive staff.

However, on two of those occasions there were weddings happening elsewhere in the hotel, which seemed to result in the waiter/waitress service being rather slow, though not to a terrible degree.

But the most recent time (22/12/2012) was peppered with irritating errors in the food preparation. My parents' Christmas dinner was served with stuffing despite their request for this to be left off. My wife's scallops were heavily over-salted. And my 'rare' steak was closer to well-done, requiring it to be replaced. All of these items led us to think that, perhaps, the chef was not the usual first-choice in the role.

The staff handled all these issues well-enough, but we weren't offered any complementary items to make up for the errors. A bit of a disappointment after recent trips to the US (service there is not what it was, in my opinion, but still better at handling issues like this) and Japan, where the service was so outstanding we were frequently amazed.

Hopefully, this was a one-off 'blip', but for the moment my suggestion is to make sure they're not catering a wedding when you visit...

We had a two night Christmas break which was very enjoyable. The staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The Christmas food was really good. Room was spacious comfortable and warm. A nice touch was breakfast in bed on Christmas morning complete with a lovely gift from the management. Everything was well thought out. We enjoyed the local hunt meet in the car park before we left on boxing day.
Unfortunately there was no sitting room available for guests. That was a shame as being able to curl up on a comfortable settee in front of a fire would have been the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are very spacious, a good view from the second floor

My husband and I wanted to take my mother-in-law out for her birthday this December and thought afternoon tea at Wentbridge house would be a real treat. We were not disappointed. We arrived at the hotel to be welcomed by very polite staff & a beautifully decorated reception, including a spectacular gingerbread house. We were shown to the wonderful fleur de lyes restaurant were we sat with a glorious view of the frosted gardens. We informed the hotel when booking about her birthday, as they asked if it was a special occasion. As soon as our order was taken my mother-in-law received an individual sweet in a glass it looked amazing & truly a wonderful unexpected touch. We had a wonderful choice of tea's & coffee to choose from. The afternoon tea arrived on a lovely stand with three types of pastries each a chocolate delice with orange jelly, pistachio bakewell tart & a lovely moist tea loaf. On the second plate there were warm cranberry scones, homemade strawberry jam (amazing) & clotted cream. Finally the third plate had four types of sandwiches each cut into fingers with salmon, ham & mustard, tuna & egg & cress all wonderful. We loved everything but were so stuffed we had to take the rest home. It was a truly fantastic afternoon & we will be definitely returning.

We decided on a one night stay at this lovely hotel for our Christmas present to each other. We booked a package which included an upgrade, bottle of wine in the room and an allowance towards our evening meal in the brasserie. Our welcome was met by a mince pie, hot mulled wine and an upgrade to a deluxe suite in the garden wing. We have stayed here on numerous occasions and have always been delighted. The brasserie is wonderful and the choice of menu very good. Breakfast surpassed our expectations. We look forward to returning again shortly.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are the best!
