“Overpriced!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

Re-opened after being a sandwich shop and frozen food shop!
Service is a bit lacking. I don't like that you have to stand and queue to order food. I believe in a cafe you should be able to sit and browse the menu and have waitress service. I think because it was a take-away sandwich shop the majority of customers are still take-aways so you can spend ages queing just to place an order for a coffee!. On the many times I have been here the lattes were never warm enough. Food is pricey for what you get. Feel they are trying to be something they're not and should remember they are not in the centre of Leeds but Mirfield and people do not want to pay Leeds prices! £4.00 for a sandwich in a small regular sized tea-cake is excessive to say the least!
I think also on observing the staff, they seem unable to cope in busy times! Think the menu is so extensive they haven't a clue how much anything is and because of all the different choices (which is good) and the different prices for everything they are looking at the menu constantly which increases your quieing time for ordering.
I would suggest they introuduce a waitress service for people dining in and then there would only be a queue for the take aways.

“High price, average food”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

I used to enjoy it at Brooks when they first opened, had no complaints then, but since it has become busier, i have found things have dropped a little.
When they are busy, i feel they are in a rush to get food & drinks out quick, which is good if your food/drink is as it should be.. but when its not, its disappointing. I'd rather wait an extra 5/10 minutes and get my hot chocolate hot! Getting a 'hot' pork & stuffing sandwich served to you barely warm isn't good - cold pork is fine... cold gravy isn't! (no sign of any stuffing either)
Similar things have happened on a number of occasions over the past 6+ months, i try not to go in when they're busy as this is when ive had the problems. The lady that was there when it was Frosty Fingers.. i don't mean to be rude but she doesn't seem to know her [--] from her elbow - she always seems confused & flustered by something. On a few occasions, she has either given me too much change or not enough!
The last thing i ordered there was a milkshake.. yet again i feel it was rushed, 2 minutes after it was served to me, the milkshake had settled... only had half a glass as the other half was froth!

Haven't eaten here in a while now as i disagree with being charged way over £1 just to eat in - there should be a set eating in price but there isn't, the cold sandwich list has many inconsistencies where this is concerned.. what does it matter what sandwich you're are having? you're already being charged a specific price for your selected sandwich so why all the different charges just because you're eating it in?!

I have only been in once in the past couple of months as i guess i have just got fed up with it. Its a shame i have had these issues because the staff have always seemed polite & welcoming enough.

“A great local place to eat”
Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

I love this place. I drive past too often and never have time to call in. So after a visit to Huddersfield today I decided to take my wife for lunch. We enjoyed it very much. Service was excellent, the food was very nice and all for a reasonable price. You don't just get a pot of tea. You get a Japanese pot with egg timers set to tell you how long to brew. Just a little touch which makes Brooks so much better than many other places.

“£18 burgers no way!”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

this little place is very big on price the food is less than average, it feels like it is trying to be more than it is. beefburgers day was £17.95 per head and the burgers were average slightly better than home made but not good enough to charge that much. other sandwich's were not as good as other delis in the area such as Shaun Fairweathers butchers and deli, Maughns and granthams also these places are far more realistic on price.
so Brooks looks nice but has average food and high prices.
