We went to the Hare and Hounds yesterday as a group of 8 for a Mothers Day lunch. The menu had lots of choice or you could order from the set menu for the day which was £15 for two courses and £18 for three. Our party did both and none of us were disappointed!
Good portions, well cooked and nice friendly staff. They were busy but we were anticipating this but it was nice to be leisurely with our food and we were not rushed.
I would definitely recommend it for a lovely sunday dinner, just make sure you wrap up warm as it was really chilly! There was an open fire but unless you were sat next to it unfortunately the heat from it was minimal. I only had a short sleeved cardigan over my t-shirt and jeans and I had to wear my sisters coat! The toilets were also absolutely freezing - thank goodness there was a hand dryer!!

Visited Hare and Hounds on a Saturday lunchtime large car park but very busy,we were seated straight away and ordered at the bar, as it was busy we had to wait about twenty minutes for our main meal but the chicken leek and mushroom pie was worth waiting for, so was the apple pie and custard I had for pudding.Drinks are a bit on the dear side but overall great food good service, and will certainly return to this great country pub

It's a long time since I last visited this pub for food and its had a revamp since I was last there. We arrived a little early for our table for 4, but although the restaurant was packed our table was ready and waiting. We had a very pleasant greeting from the young man who showed us to our table and within minutes our young waitress was there asking what we wanted to drink and producing the menus. I wouldn't say there is a vast choice but there is something for everyone.
The first course arrived within about 10 minutes and consisted of deep fried calamari for two, prawn cocktail for one and Camembert with hot bread for the fourth. All were well presented and tasty. The calamari was served with too much lettuce but that is only a minor criticism. The mains arrived about 10 minutes after they had cleared away the starters. Two of us had the chucked breast stiffed with spinach and mushrooms served on a bed of herb mash and the other two had the fish. The chicken was good but the fish didn't come off the bone easily and was a little undercooked. All were served with mixed vegetables.
For what we paid it was not a bad meal given that this is a pub chain. Could they improve the quality of the food? Yes, but the service was excellent. We will try it again in a few weeks and see if the fact it was so busy was why the food was not as good as expected
