We walked up to The Hermit for lunch and a beer one sunny, Sunday afternoon. The pub was busy with people eating and the car park was nearly full which is always a good sign. We ordered a couple of sandwiches, bowl of chips to share and sat outside with a beer. After 10 minutes or so the sandwiches arrived with a bowl of chips to share.
I have to say that the quality of the sandwiches was terrible. I'm not sure who is working in the kitchen but they definitly need some training. Two slices of sliced brown bread which had been sat in a hot kitchen for a while as it had that dried out texture to it. A few slices of catering, coloured cheddar and half a jar of pickle. Our other sandwich was a runny tuna mayo, which was dripping out of the sandwich once it was picked up. Chips were nice!
A loverly little pub, in a great area, with views across the valley. All it needs is a little refurbishment and some attention to the menu and it could be a gold mine.
Real shame...but we won't be going back...
