Beautiful old building and well presented reception and brasserie areas are let down by old, shabby rooms that are filled with cheap, decrepit furniture and very old bathrooms. Such a disappointment. The 1960s function room addition needs pulling down 20 years ago! However the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Recently stayed here on a weekend break with my partner and loved it. The room we were given was clean and bright, I was a bit worried as I had read reviews saying the beds were not comfy but ours was perfect. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hotel . We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful . Would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the craiglands on a Tuesday evening. When we arrived we spent 15 minutes stood at reception whilst the receptionist was having a telephone conversation over a wrong booking with a group of guests that were also at the reception. Eventually we were given out room card and told to clear the balance on the room there and then with no offer of having the chance to put drinks to our room, we were asked if we were dining at the brassiere as we were unsure of the menus we had to decline and sign a piece of paper and quickly told done directions to the room! Not very good first impressions with customer service!!!!
The room was small and tatty, crumbling paint on the walls n flaky radiators, TV kept losing signal and not worth the money we paid! Staff missing from the bar area and having to wait for a drink just isn't good enough.
Checking out was a wait again for a receptionist who once again was on the phone and had very little interest in customer service. I was told I would have to wait for a receipt even though I had paid the previous day!
Needless to say we will be avoiding this hotel and would advise others to do the same!

Only stayed two nights in this old Victorian hotel. Easy to find, just up the hill from the railway station. My room was the smallest I have ever stayed in, just enough room for a double bed! However it was clean and nicely decorated with a modern bathroom and a great shower. I was travelling alone but if I had been with my wife I would have requested another room.
Restaurant was good, food was nicely presented and ate here both nights. The staff here are very friendly and helpful.

We were contacted by hotel staff prior to our stay requesting credit card details (despite Booking.com having taken them and passed them on) to guarantee our stay. We were then contacted AGAIN a few weeks later asking for credit card details and were told they had no record of having called and taken them previously (although its on my received calls log) so this makes me worry about the security of the data!
Given that we paid £145 for 1 night's B&B we expected a good standard (we travel a lot for business so have a good idea of standards to expect), but were disappointed. The girl on reception couldn't tell us what time breakfast was going to be (this was at 7pm!). The toilet paper was thin 1-ply. There was no choice of herbal teabag or drinking water in the room, which should be a given at this price. The mattress was very soft.
With regard to breakfast there was a wide range of food on offer to satisfy most tastes, however there was no choice of herbal tea. The staff made no attempt to clear our plates during breakfast, so they piled up (and it wasn't that busy). The plates were only removed when I put them on an adjacent empty table. The plus point was the stunning view from our room, however this is not enough to make us want to stay there again.

Our group of 18 golfers used the Craiglands hotel as our base. The hotel staff from the manager (Chris) down where extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. the food was excellent! especially the breakfast, it set you up for the day on the fairways!! As our group were leaving Skipton golf club (our last game), we all agreed that we would go back to The Craiglands Hotel, but play different courses.

An impressive hotel, very classy, yet very reasonably priced (on a par with Premier Inn).

Elegant surroundings, and very accommodating staff. I am vegan, but it did not occur to me to ask for no cream to be added to the soup of the day, entirely my fault. But without quibble, this was changed for no charge.

All staff very courteous and competent, we will definitely be visiting the Craiglands again.
