A new smaller menu, with much more emphasis on quality and originality.
Two months ago I gave this pub only three stars.

We have been fans of Bart'at for some time, but we were disappointed on our last visit. We were told that they have a new chef; well either he/she was having an off day, or they were not as good as the old chef. I had the 'pie of the day'; it was so dried out, that I thought it most unlikely that it had been made that day. It seemed more probable that it was a previous day's pie reheated. Other dishes were similarly disappointing. A number of favourite dishes from the former menu had disappeared (the whitebait starter, the slow roast belly pork).
I do hope the new chef gets his or her act together, as in so many ways, the Bart'at is an ideal place to take friends, but unless the food improves we won't be going back very often

We have just got back from an evening meal at Bar t'at; we were two couples on holiday in ilkley looking for somewhere to eat this evening. After reviewing Trip Advisor, we picked this bar to eat at and were not disappointed! The atmosphere was great, lively but not loud, staff friendly and professional and the food was tip top! We had the chicken and stuffing pie with hand cut chips (x2) , the veggie option and the oxtail cottage pie -each were lovely, good wholesome, freshly prepared and super big portions! We were totally full, but could not resist trying two puddings shared between the four of us - chocolate brownie with ginger and orange marmalade ice cream and the rhubarb crumble and custard. Both were totally yum !!!!!!
We have had a lovely time this evening which was topped off by the good quality wine and beer, the ale tasting before buying was a particular treat for the boys!
Total cost including a tip was £80 for four mains, two puddings, a bottle of wine (£18.95) and four pints. Very good value.
We totally recommend this lovely place, from the high standards of cleanliness from the toilets through to the restaurant and bar areas. The staff were fab too, so nice and helpful, without being over bearing, give it a go, don't think you will be disappointed!

We have been here many times to eat at luchtime on a weekend for the bar meals. We have always been happy with it, however, we called one day to be told the kitchens were being redone and no food that day. Fine by us, presuming it would be the same again on our next visit. Sadly, not to be so, the menu had changed dramatically and far more expensive. The small meals before, were good, as we never wanted a big meal at lunchtime. The new menu is far more expensive and smaller meal choices left a lot to be desired. So much so that we left without even a drink. Sadly, I think we will not go back again unless the small choice menu is with a more than "small choice"! ie. more variety. Even the staff were not as smiley as they used to be. Noticed also that it was not as busy???

Superb choice of beers that are well kept and served. The food here is top quality and reasonably priced.
