I bought this as a treat for my husband's birthday via an Amazon offer which we paid £15 each instead of the £25 each.

If I had paid £25 each I would have been bitterly disappointed.

We boarded the boat, it was cold on board and never warmed up. The deal included a hot drink and a piece of cake, which was very nice.

The commentary was hit and miss really, could have been a lot better. Pointing out trees and ducks to a group of adults?

We got married on 28 July and chose Hebden Bridge Cruises for our wedding reception as there were only 10 of us! The weather was glorious and the boat was decorated beautifully by Mary who did absolutely everything possible to make the day perfect. The food was delicious with scrumptious homemade cakes and the best scones ever!! The whole trip was so relaxing as we drifted down the picturesque Rochdale canal on the pretty Gracie! We could not have wished for a more lovely wedding and Mary and crew made our day extra special ... We will be back!!

We boarded the boat at the Stubbing Wharf, Hebden Bridge. The day was warm and sunny and we spent 40 minutes cruising on the Rochdale canal and enjoyed every moment of it. During the cruise refreshments were available if required. The traditional narrowboat was clean and comfortable and everyone could sit down. The friendly staff chatted to us and during the cruise we were given a commentary which included a little bit of history of the canal along with information on some of the wildlife. The passing scenery was beautiful. All in all a really relaxing time and we would certainly go back again if we were in the area.

This was a family celebration on "Gracie" The Barge on the Rochdale Canal. We caught the Canal boat at the Stubbing Wharf on a lovely sunny day.The boat holds twelve and we had afternoon tea. This was delicious,we had a variety of sandwiches and cakes on the way, with commentary from the jolly captain! The music played was calming background music. We all thoroughly enjoyed it,children as well.We all had enough to eat and marvelled at the lovely views from the Rochdale Canal. There are Sunday Lunch Cruises,Curry Night Cruises,Celebration Cruises and a lot more. This is well worth a visit.

Hebden Bridge is a lovely place unfortunately you don't get to see any of it's charms during this dull 40 minute boat ride. The cruise takes you past a handful of houses and overgrown riverbanks. The music that is played throughout the trip is enough to send you to sleep and the occasional commentary is just as boring. The old guy operating the trip appeared to have a problem with all other uses of the canal, criticising the skills of every other boat user. The boat was very cramped inside and not very comfortable. I could think of better ways to spend £20 for a family of four. Have been on a number of other boat trips and this was by far the worst. Dull scenery, bland commentary , extremely amateur!

I write in response to your review. The cruise takes you through the beautiful Calder valley and the canal bank is natural and unspoiled, not overgrown, carrying an array of wildlife and natural beauty. As we slowly glide along we play relaxing Celtic background music. You mentioned it was putting you to sleep, it is meant to be restful.
With regards to the commentary, we keep it to a minimum mentioning the key points of interest and a little bit of history about the canal.
Some days we do have a problem with hire boats but our fully skilled boat master puts our passengers safety first.
Our boat was made to carry 20 people, but we only carry twelve maximum and no body has ever complained about the space available. After all 'Gracie' is a narrowboat !!
We have had passengers from all over the world and lots of repeat customers who love the boat and the whole experience.
Take a look at all the other reviews and our facebook page and make your own mind up.
