We were pleased to see a new place to eat in Hebden. The re fit is good but that seems to be where the effort has ended. I had a starter of belly pork on a bright green apple sauce which although tasted ok was only just ok and the colour of the sauce was odd. For my main course I had venison haunch steak with red cabbage. The venison was lovely although on the small side but the red cabbage had a very off flavour running through it. The kitchen insisted it was just fruit but there was a strong odd taste as well. The waitress offered to get me an alternative veg but by the time it arrived I had almost finished the rest of the meal. We did not risk pudding.
The open plan kitchen is a great idea IF you don't leave plastic tubs and sauce bottles on clear view and don't allow the chefs to mess about in clear view. Seems odd not to realise that!
The bill for two if us with no pudding was a whopping £50 so we won't be going back. There are better places to eat.
