A little more expensive than normal pub food, but well worth it. The steak and ale pie, home made chips and mushies were wonderful. The roast beef dinner with a huge yorkshire pud and fresh vegetables was great. BUT..
after our five mile walk up towards Stoodley Pike we were starving. We headed past two other pubs/hotels to the White Lion, were shown to a table and sat down. A waitress had her back to us and was talking to a couple at the next table. The four of us discussed what we would like to eat, so the waitress knew we were there. She carried on talking. After ten minutes, and still no sign of a menu, the waitress was still talking. Another five minutes went by, so I suggested in a loud voice that we should to another pub. With that, the waitress flounced off to the bar and asked another waitress to bring us a menu. Then she glanced at us, looked at the ceiling, and smirked at the couple she had been talking to... I wonder if the Manager has realised that one of his waitress doesn't think she is there to work.
