We have just celebrated my mums 80th birthday with a two hour cruise with two course meal on a canal boat from the stubbing wharf pub at Hebdon bridge. the meal was delicious and was delivered hot to our table as we set off. the two hosts Sean and Mary were really friendly and despite the small boat were not intrusive. the whole trip was relaxing and fun. there were twelve of us which is the maximum for the trip and all enjoyed it, saying how quickly the two hours went by.A minor inconvenience was that we didnt know till we got there that payment cannot be made by card, which as the bill was being payed by one, after previously collecting all, we had assumed a card would be quick and convenient. it could have been an embarrasing time and luckily was sorted. overall a great and novel way to spend a birthday.

This is a lovely canal-side pub/restaurant, with a nice choice of ales, beers, wines and spirits. There is a nice choice of food, or just coffee and sandwiches. Its not expensive, and there are tables outside, if the weather is good. It has a lovely old/world atmosphere, and the staff and customers are very friendly.

Not the easiest to find but well worth the effort. Turn left at the Co-op then right onto the tow path of the canal and keep walking for approximately 1/2 mile. Pleasant walk and lovely views. Pub is on the right-hand side, enter round the back. Nice seating area if weather permitting, lovely outlook. Excellent value for money lunch menu, 2 courses for £10.00. I had garlic mushrooms served with warm fresh bread followed by steak and ale pie, brilliant. Others had pate which was beautifully presented and would serve some people as a light meal. We didn't have the fish and chips but looked great from where we sat.

For real ale fans plenty of choise, cider too. The pub can also be reached via the A646 (just off it) on the west side of Hebdon Bridge.

Slightly out of town, up a steep hill, this pub has a stunning canal-side location. It has a bustling bar, popular with locals and tourist alike. We were in the function room upstairs. It was a nice room, but got very hot with the door closed. The windows were painted shut. The meals were large and tasty, typical pub-grub! The service was variable. Some waitresses were lovely and helpful, others stood in the middle of the room and screamed out the type of food, then dumped it in front of the lucky recipient and turned tail before you even had chance to ask for some salt!!!!

Excellent service and brilliant food. Staff went out of their way to answer my requests over the phone and book at short notice for 26 people, including 6 children!
